NewcastleFalcon wrote: 23 Oct 2019, 19:42 I've still got a couple of unanswered bits of trivia simmering in the background.
The Fictional Barry Cade's avatar/sketch/photo which accompanied his Car Mechanics articles.

(I could quite easily resolve it by actually buying a car mechanics magazine from e-bay for the appropriate period.) but prefer the serendipitous approach, and by chance I will come across a bundle of such magazines on my travels, and imagine the unbridled joy of such a discovery!
The other one is the impossible whatsthisthen? which I have never passed again since I photographed it under the tarpaulin. That one is going to be a case of discretely revisiting and peeking under the covers on the next occasion
Regards Neil

PS Not forgetting I need someone to go to Jersey and photograph the AA box at Trinity to complete the final box in the FCF AA Box challenge!
As far as the Cade picture is concerned I am going to Kempton Park autojumble on Saturday in the hope of tracking down Henry Cole but i will keep an eye out for the said Mr Cade.
As to the impossible whatsthisthen it really is impossible because even if we get it right we won't know :-D :-D

PS will a photo of it from my friend who lives in Jersey count?

The reference to Peter was following up his water pumping system post, nothing to do with area. A further clue may be to do with my trip in 2017!! I did suggest there may be more from it to come :-D
To assist others Mick, here's the description you gave us of your 2017 holiday!
mickthemaverick wrote: 19 Oct 2019, 19:01 We had a "big" holiday in 2017, flew to Chicago for a couple of days and then took the train to Seattle going through Montana en route, then took a cruise from Seattle up the Alaskan coast calling at Juneau and Icy Straight Point, Victoria, and back to Seattle. Then we flew home via Newark with 18 minutes to change flights, that was hairy!!
Still headscratching...

I wish you a successful escapade to Kempton Park :-D . Once I have lifted the tarpaulin hopefully all will be revealed!

Now this is the age of contorted shenanigans, so your friend would have to join our brethren here, make an introductory post , and then hit us with a picture of the AA Box at Trinity Jersey, hopefully with the mode of transport and maybe a chatty cardboard sign saying something witty!

Regards Neil

Congrats on post no 700 I will mark it with a 700 pic when I get round to it!

I dont think I will be spoiling it for others Mick, without clues that would have been as impossible as my car under the tarp! My devious dark arts have come up with it!

You would have been right then Peter, but to misquote a Farrows advert from the 60s "You're too late mate, the best points went to Tyneside" :-D

I forwarded that to my Jersey correspondent and he suggested "If I want a picture of the AA box I'll have to go and take one and buy him a beer or two while I'm there", so don't hold your breath!! :-D

First sight I'd say a hand pump for a standpipe to draw water into the trough'! :!:

That looks like a ram pump, just in a bit of an odd location.

Right country but not as far as I know. They were also many in England in the '50s and before.
