Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Anyone know what this is in the pillar.
Discovered in my daughter's C3 when I recovered it from Mr Garageman, clutch slave broken.
Also found that it had AC that she knew nothing of, and cruise/speed limit, also unbeknownst to her.
Only had the car a year.

The weather.
Just thinking on the once again soggy July morning, we sometimes here have our cars covered in sand when there's a sandstorm in the Middle East so do you think the Italian volcanos currently erupting are affecting our weather now?

Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
The BBC have been regularly running and updating a page about "Why is the weather so sh1te ?" (My phrase not theirs !
)
Today's version:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/articles/c2q0x3vx0d2o
Edited lowlights:
"How can it be so wet?
The jet stream is responsible for making and moving around areas of high and low pressure. Over recent weeks the jet stream pattern has got a bit stuck with troughs over Greenland and the North Atlantic forming low pressures that have subsequently tracked slowly over the UK bringing unsettled weather.
The low pressures have been slow-moving because frequently in north-east Europe we have had higher pressure than normal, which has slowed the progress of the lows.
But it's not just over recent weeks that we have been getting a soaking - last year was the 11th wettest for the UK, with records going back to 1836."
"And why is it so cold?
It's been a very cool start to July with temperatures widely two to three Celsius below average. We have had a persistent cool feed of air across the UK with cloud blocking out the powerful July sunshine. "
"The weather has got to get better, hasn't it?
Low pressure will continue to move north over the UK and stagnate for a few days giving yet more rain, with weather warnings issued for Scotland and concerns of some localised flooding.
The rest of the week stays unsettled with the dregs of the low pressure bringing showery weather conditions, which are expected to loiter into next week too.
However, temperatures at least look more likely to be close or a little above average so there will be some warm spells of July sunshine too. "
Cast your mind back to this time last year and you might remember that The Goodwood Festival of Seed was cancelled on the Saturday due to high winds. The lousy weather threatened to blow the fruit out of Lord March's glass of Pimms, and that just won't do you know

It's the right sort of location for alarm ultrasonic sensors but not normal shape of a thingame for that.myglaren wrote: 02 Jul 2024, 12:56 Anyone know what this is in the pillar.

Are there sensors monitoring if the car thinks you are nodding off at the wheel? Maybe it's some sort of camera trying to spot drooping eyelids?
Google result confirming I've not dreamt it (whilst at the wheel!) https://www.driving.org/volvos-latest-t ... the-wheel/

I bought this car for her just over a year ago but have only driven it three times and only a couple of miles each time and know bugger all about it and it seems that she knows about the same as I do.MattBLancs wrote: 09 Jul 2024, 18:24It's the right sort of location for alarm ultrasonic sensors but not normal shape of a thingame for that.myglaren wrote: 02 Jul 2024, 12:56 Anyone know what this is in the pillar.

I spotted it in the car park near the garage we use when her previous C3 blew the head gasket for the second time. Asked one of the lads who said their boss had bought it to sell, so bought it without inspecting it, the same as the Civic I bought from them.

I once knew a dog who could accurately predict lottery numbers. His owner fed him on Winalot...
