For completeness
Another short selection of liveries. Nice touch that DCR have a locomotive called "Brian". Occasionally I have seen Nameplate Auctions and a recent one which caught my eye was Concrete Bob https://www.directrailservices.com/nameplate-auction/

On the locomotive naming front following on from "Brian" and "Concrete Bob" referred to above, which are "Official" names, new to me I discovered that many locomotives allocated to Tinsley TMD near Sheffield received "unofficial names" distinctively painted on the locos.

A pretty comprehensive gallery from Flickr is here https://www.flickr.com/groups/4564567@N24/pool/

An example
Image47446 Eastleigh 25-03-91 by Gray Callaway, on Flickr

Where does the name come from....maybe an homage to the evocative Official LNER Deltic names based on racehorses Alycidon, Crepello, Pinza, Meld, Tulyar, Ballymoss, St Paddy, Nimbus.

Galtee More was indeed a champion Racehorse winning the "Triple Crown" of the 2,000 Guineas, the Derby, and the St Leger in 1897, named in turn after the Irish Mountain of the same name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galtymore.

Ummmm... A Class 47 is hardly a racehorse... I'm sure the Deltic fraternity will not be happy... A 47 is very much a good workhorse, despite them being nicknamed 'Duffs'...

Thing is it became a thing, as the gallery I put the link to testifies at that particular depot and I salute the creativity. The various locos ran into scores, and were given the unofficial names carefully signwitten on their panels, and paraded around the railway lines of the United kingdom with them on.

I picked out the racehorse one because it wasn't obvious where it originated. This one also had me look it up. A lot of them were birds including this one but you have to know your Latin, it was on 47146.

With the Trivia Investigation thread full to bursting with "Tootles the Taxi and Other Rhymes" I'll squeeze "Trevor the Train" into one for the train buffs :-D

Sorry Neil, a poor poem for me, a syllable missing in line 4 and lines 6 and 8 don't rhyme. Insert 'then' in line four to get the rhythm right and maybe 'just fine' to finish instead of 'on time'
Call me pedantic by all means but I like children's poems to read properly!! :-D

I didn't write it Mick but have read it many times and have no trouble with any of it and I can quite happily recite the rhyme to a reasonably rapid train rhythm. I find pedantry irritating!

Then I'll claim a medal for pedantry!! :-D Sorry but I write a lot of poetry for various treasure hunt clues and sometimes I spend ages trying to balance a verse or think of a rhyme and it irritates me when it seems some poets just haven't bothered to get it right! :-D

A rewind to this post, a simple reference and a simple picture and a simple rhyme, posted here to sustain what is an excellent thread with a little update reminding viewers and members that the thread exists. Those pictures and rhymes whether from the "original" or "updated" "Tootles the Taxi" books are indeed well-loved at Chez Falcon and have been since I was a boy whether or not they meet some threshold of poetic correctness.

If anyone wants to join in with the Naming of Vehicles subject on the Trivia Investigation Thread of which Tootles the Taxi became an alliterative aside here's a link to the start of the posts on that subject.

You might say Trevor is at his 'Peak'* there and can do something no train can do these days - get his passengers there on time!!!

* Trevor looks like he's a Class 44 and these were known as 'Peaks' after being named after mountains in England and Wales... 44010 'Tryfan' for example...

The similar looking Classes 40, 45 and 46 also became known generically as Peaks although only members of Class 44 were named after mountains...

Popped the DVD from my first US holiday in the slot yesterday and looked through the hundred or more pictures taken with my Kodak DC120 camera.
I've copied a few onto the computer to post.
Here's one that fits this thread, myself at the B&O Railway museum in Baltimore.

No we didn't expect to see this where we saw it. The Bassenthwaite Lake station on the former Penrith-Keswick-Cockermouth Railway, resurrected from a ruin and the Orient Express lining up next to the restored platform.
It is the actual replica built for the 2017 film starring Judi Dench, and Jonny Depp, In 2019 owners Simon and Diana Parums bought the French SNCF Class 241 engine, complete with tender, buffet car, baggage carriage and salon, from a haulier in Stoke and had it transported to its new home in the Lakes.
