C1 is ok long distance if you have good earplugs and a cushion.

I have the Leon for longer distances Mike. It's not quite at c5 or xantia comfieness but really acceptable. I once did here to my sister and back in one go in my first 107 which was a basic urban lite, coming on for 500 miles and regretted it for a few days after! The caddy will be going soon also. It has been a money drain needing a gearbox, clutch and flywheel, then a turbo, then it broke a driveshaft. It is the motor which has persuaded me to give up on bangers and buy a 3 year old car which has only done 5400 miles

There is the last picture of bigpug, which has tonight departed to it's new home. It is in front of the amphibious option, just for Steve. The boat in the background is the actual fishing boat I spent many happy years on, and owning 1/3rd of. I never thought I would see it again, as it was sold to the west of Ireland. It is now lying in Buckie, which is where my father had it built 45 years ago.

Yes. She was built as the Delightful BCK56 on Jonses buckie shipyard, launched June 1975. My dad was the first owner/skipper. She was built with a 495hp Kelvin main engine, which was replaced with another Kelvin at about 10 years old. I have since heard that the Mitsubishi in it is smashed up, and it's unlikely to get reengined again, so therfore the boat scrapyard awaits.

That's the new to me c1. Exactly 3 years old and only done 5402 miles when I picked it up. It still has a new car smell when you get in it. It's a c1 feel, I have no idea where it sits in the range, but it seems quite well equipped. Compared to the older style 107/c1 it feels slightly bigger, and like it has grown up. Still not much in the way of performance, needs liberal use of the accelerator pedal for progress, but that's exactly what I expected as it has the same sub 1 litre 3 pot engine, but in a slightly different tune to get its emissions to 97 so it's free road tax. The seats have slightly more padding and support than in the older car, and it is slightly more refined. It still has the addictive 3 cylinder buzz when revved, but a little quieter and smoother, and guite a bit less road roar, which can only be a good thing. The perfect vehicle for the pizza deliveries, that's the reason for its existence. The caddy van which was for the deliveries has cost more than a grand in the last month in repairs, I have absolutely no faith in it, it is going to get cleaned up and moved on very shortly. I have a friend wanting it to move a few things, so it's going out on loan first. Then I chall be left with the c1 for work, it will be kept as I have bought it on finance from a dealer, which is something I thought I would never do again, and the leon for when I am out with the family or on longer runs, or just for my legs dont want to work. Poor gabby is sitting at the back of the drive which is the awaiting attention, or forgotten about space, I cant bring myself to scrap it, as some day, you just never know, I may find myself getting it through an mot again, although it's highly unlikely

It has been used for that Alasdair :rofl2:

In addition to my first impressions, it was pouring rain on Saturday night while I was at work, and the grip from the tyres is absolutely crap in the wet. On inspection I find out the tyres are continental eco contact. I hated them with a passion on previous 107s and although this car has a bigger size they are still rubbish. However they will have to be put up with, I cannot justify chucking off a set of tyres that have only covered 5500 miles and still look like new. They are an unusual size, 165/60x15, and there are not many makes of tyre available. That will have to wait until they are worn before I am seriously looking for tyres, although knowing me how long before I find a set of aftermarket alloys for it?

The main thing I remember noticing when I had a 2015 model as a rental was that the gear change was an order of magnitude better than on the 2009 model I had and the 2005 ones we had at work.

Really did feel like they had just refined the car overall...but the gearchange was the biggest difference I noticed, that had always been a bit of a letdown on the older cars.

The whole car feels better and more grown up than the earlier ones. And more refined, less road noise and less engine noise. I like it, its every car I would ever need if truth be told.

I will tell you what I did not need and that is the dent which has appeared in a front wing, assumed happened in Tesco's car park. It's not much but its bloody annoying on the first car I have bought in absolutely mint condition from a garage for years. Pissed off is not even close.

Oh no! What a bummer! People who can do that and just walk away, well I just don't get it, I know I could never do that.
