-Hi bought a Diagbox from Jim, he was very helpful at first but then I think he got fed up with me asking questions and I havent heard from him for while and I still cant access the AC, and another thing he said that the Diagbox should read the Vin No. itself but mine doesnt,maybe the car is too old a Series 2. 2000 Xantia HDI I still have the problems with the car and every night I have to remove a fuse to stop the battery from draining but I am just going to live with it

I don't know who the Jim you refer to is allanic, but your message reminds me of my experience when I bought a Lexia through the group. Despite the best efforts of members here especially DickieG the thing refused to work. Got in touch with a fellow in vehiclediagnostics called Chris. He sent me a ''program disk '' which did not relate in any way to the original disk, or to the required program. Contacted him by phone. He promised to send me another disk - he did eventually, months later, after trying co contact him by phone & leaving messages, on several occasions. This second disk didn't work either. A friend of mine an electronics engineer, told me that the Firmware in the Lexia was faulty or non- existent. I decided to cut my losses, and have recently purchased one from China. It is working perfectly. I wondered is the Jim you refer to, also associated with the same company as Chris the guy I dealt with. If so it is interesting. as a lack of interest in customers seems to be common in both cases.

Easiest way is to check the car(s) for an ODBII socket if it has one then the standard set of cables is fine.

MM, your C8 has an ODBII socket so you don't need any extra cables for that. If you look up at the shelf where the handbook lives under the steering wheel you can't miss it. What age is the picasso? My Mk2 2003 Xsara saloon also has an ODBII socket.

Cheers.
Not sure what year the Picasso is its a friends, though I think it will be newer than mine which is an 03.
So I take it that the extra cables are for older model cars only. May be worth getting them anyway if they aren't that much extra. I'll have to check the price differences.

Re: What is Bashe 5? + Diagbox Info

Post by C-fiver »

Hi All,

If possible I would like a little help getting my Diagbox 6.01 working properly.

After reading about 20 pages of comments on this forum about Diagbox and taking up the tips, I can now get my Diagbox loaded and connected to the car, it will read the VIN, I unplug the usb, wait, reconnect it, wait, click Lexia and then I enter the ORGA number. Then when I try either Test by function or Diagnosis, it seems to read the various devices on the car but does not have dialogue with them. After trying a few different ways, I got a message which said “No dialogue with ECU during initial setup, Validate for new test or press return key”. I could not get around this so any help would be appreciated.

I am running on Windows 7 – 32 bit with the User Account Control switched off and no internet connection.

P.S. When I looked in the Tool Configuration, the 4 "Presence of..." boxes were blank and when I came out of it I got a message saying “Some fields have not been entered, please complete the blanks” so do I need to do anything and is it connected to the above issue?

Kind regards, Bob.

C-fiver: Would definitely suggest trying to use xp instead (in a virtual machine is fine - I use virtualbox for mine).
Also would suggest trying to update to at least 6.30 just in case (I'm on 7.04 fine with mine)
If xp doesn't solve it, it maybe worth trying v5 of diagbox.

Hi Ben82,

You may have a point, but my laptop was running Windows 7 - 64 bit and Diagbox would not run on it. Jim from Easydiagnostics recommended I load Windows 7 -32 bit which I did. I had never done anything like that before and lost all my drivers, my wifi and Office 2010. I connected to the internet by cable and let microsoft load all the windows updates which restored the wifi but had to go onto Toshiba and Synaptics to get drivers to make things work. Office 2010 had been a generic basic one and I could not get it back without a product key, so I downloaded Libre office. It all took a couple of weeks and rather panicked me!

I don't particularly want to load another operating system and it would probably be quicker and cheaper to buy an old laptop with XP just to use for the cars.

I believe that there are folk who are running it successfully on W7 so if anyone can advise, I would appreciate it.

Many thanks, Bob.

Hi Bob,

Have a look back on page 4 of this very thread for a post by me which includes the following link:

http://www.auto-professionals.co.uk/sho ... hp?tid=196" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is the best place to find Diagbox downloads, patches and drivers. You need to register on the site (free) to gain access to the file attachments in the first post which have download links. One of the downloads linked to is a separate download for the device drivers for the USB interface including 32 bit Windows 7 drivers.

(although there are 64 bit Win 7 drivers and Diagbox works in 64 bit Windows 7, the Lexia app does not)

Before you do that though, check your windows device manager and make sure an ACTIA usb device appears when you connect your interface. Also check the large round connector between the Lexia interface and the cable that goes to the car is connecting properly - I notice that mine is getting a bit cranky to align and push in now, it needs to go in until the little metal tab clicks in place.

Another thing to bear in mind is some of the clone interfaces have troubles with the 2.2HDi C5, there was another thread about that recently, although in that case it was only the engine ECU it wouldn't communicate with.

One other thing to be aware of is that many Chinese clone interfaces can't run version of Diagbox later than 5.29. If yours did not come with Diagbox 6.00 or later chances are it may be one that can only go up to 5.29.

EasyDiagnostics have added a new string to their bow. They claim that they can update any clone (that can only go to ver 5.29) by flashing the firmware, and that it then can run 6.35;

Yowsers £40? You can get it done by scarymiatake himself, not sure how much he charges, but I doubt it's £40.

I believe the process is a bit more than just a flash, I think one of the chips needs replacing, as this is how diagbox 6 identifies the clones.
