Take the reduced points, 500 after the clue, as I am indeed, the 'paddle' gets stuck on its spindle with dough cooking around it and is impossible to "lift off" for cleaning as described in the manual, the tool slips under it and gently rocked side to side loosens the grip to allow it to slip up and off. :-D

Is it a worn shaft on the bread machine or a worn kneader ? I've had one of those kneaders wear out and crack, but not had the shaft wear and that's after making many loaves over the years. The kneaders are readily available on Fleabay.

Neither actually, it's a pretty new machine and the paddle is a perfect fit when clean. Just gets stuck after baking a loaf!! :-D

I wonder if a suitable cooking oil on the shaft (before fitting the paddle) might be called for?

I have known people to use almond oil in their bread making (adds a nutty taste to the bread), so maybe a try of that?

Yes I'll keep that in mind if the butter fails, thanks James. :)

I'm pleased to report the loaf is done and the paddle slipped off easily, so butter it will be as it's already in the fridge!! :-D

I think his problem is that he's mixed up the bag of cement dust with the strong flour again. Might explain why he needs a cut-off saw to cut the slices

It just blunted the cut-off saw, I had to use the angle grinder with high temp carbide disk!! Certainly added a gritty element to my cheese sandwich!! :-D

So it's basically some sort of wedging device, I was originally thinking to do with springs but food got involved

Yes a kind of simple puller. You just slide the notch around the spindle under the paddle, rock it side to side and it levers the paddle up sufficiently to break the dough seal, then just pull straight up to release the paddle. :)

Discussion on POTD has suggested Jim should get a T-shirt signed around the world so I thought a little 'where is this then' might prove amusing over the next 8 days. So you need to identify Jim's whereabouts each day!!:
