If the leon gets written off it may just give me the kick up the butt I need to bite the bullet and get bigpug into a garage and fixed. Then it will be like a new car to me again, and after all it was going to be a keeper.

A colleague at work had issues with a Volvo V70 D5 that had been remapped , by the sound of it the Ecu had been butchered by whoever had been tinkering.

Might be worth simply getting hold of another ECU, if other checking doesn't throw up anything helpful.
There might be immobiliser issues in putting in another unit, possibly; unsure on this.

I have wondered if my ecu has been badly butchered instead of remapped. I also see that an ecu is relatively unexpensive on the bay of e. It may just be worth getting a replacement and shoving it in, never know its not a lot of money to try it. Once the leon is taken away on Monday I may take the ecu put to get the part number off it and see if I can get a matching one to fit and try.

Remember Engine ECUs have to be matched to the BSI and the transponder chips in the keys - you can't just replace with a second hand one and expect it to work. These three items must be a matched pair.

They do, unless you get an unlocked one from a reputable retailer. The one I got for the Berlingo when I had it remapped was unlocked and would have worked on any Berlingo with that engine and injection. I'd recommend that as the way to go for Davie...

That makes good sense... Takes a lot of faffing about right out of the equation :)

If it's virginised, then it'll still need coding.

Mine didn't. I asked for an unlocked ECU with a stage 1 map for a Berlingo. I literally plugged it in and it worked.

You can get "immo off" applied to the mapping meaning they don't need key coding and will start with any key that fits.

Talking of remaps Davie. Another option is to have the stock map reflashed back onto your ECU.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/top ... &t=1779411I know this article is about a petrol version, but maybe the 407 Coupe has reached the bottom and is starting to come up as it's now getting recognition on a major car enthusiast site
