Nothing to do with any form of projector.
A little clarification, the item had been misused by an ignorant user resulting in the right side spindle snapping and remaining in the cog as shown in yellow, when the cog should have lifted off as per the blue arrowed one. Note above the right hand cog is a spring loaded detent!!
