Thanks Marc, I've flashed new firmware on new sd card.
Couldn't get Mirascript to work as the unit kept restarting after 5 seconds.

Now i have a beeping sound which is probably to fix the date and time? The setup button doesnt work...

Unfortunately the beeping sound means the unit has lost all its configuration settings in that case and the beeping means it needs amongst other things, VIN coding. This can be a possible consequence of the 2.86 update. As you haven't been able to get mirascripts to extract the user data, then it was probably too far gone.

As a consequence it means you'll likely need the dealer to configure the Head Unit for you as when this happens the RT6 goes into secure mode, which means Diagbox won't be able to configure it without access to a PSA servers.

At least whilst at it, they can check that all your vehicle options are working and correctly configures like parking assistance etc. Still, it's a lot cheaper than a new Head Unit.

Hi, I've had a problem with my 308 active 1.6hdi 2013 for the last week, It seems the RT6 radio unit has stopped responding and just makes an ejecting noise, There's a blank screen and the mph display is now in km. After reading through the forums and followiiing the advice from GiveMeABreak , Ive unsuccessfully tried to install a new micro sd card, I bought a 32gb micro sd card and originally used 64gb flash for the mirrascript installation, I then tried it with a 32gb flash card but to no success, Then i tried cloning the original 8gb mirco sd card (Which was still readable on my windows laptop) to the new 32gb sd card with partitions. That still didn't work and i ended up hearing the dreaded ejector noise constantly, I'm thinking maybe the new 32gb micro sd card isn't readable by the rt6 unit, So i was wondering would it be best to try a 16gb micro sd card instead, Also can you clone from the original micro sd card with a windows pc?? I didn't know if windows writes hidden system files on it which then makes it usless when you put in the the rt6 unit? if anyone can help it would be amazing. Wayne

16Gb is known to work, but don't go higher as this may cause issues when the firmware recreates the partitions and installs the operating system.

There is no point in cloning your old card - you will likely be cloning any corrupted files or file structures!

Yes, Windows puts on hidden system files - read my guide, there is a batch file on how to remove them.

Please follow the guide - if you start compromising or customising, then the chances are that you will run into problems.

Thank you for the reply Marc, I will order a 16gb card and try again, Just out of curiousity can i just clone the original to the new 16gb sd card or is it better to go the mirrascript way, Or can i just install from the Magnet Marrelli Rt6 firmware 2.86 software cd??

I think you are getting a bit confused (which is easy to do as this is a bit involved).
  1. For the purposes of this guide, Mirascripts is ONLY used to first extract the existing specific portion of the vehicle configuration / user data from the MicroSD card, and only where this is possible. If the data has become so bad or the system is not responding, you may not even be able to recover this data. Each case is different.
  2. Mirascripts has no other part to play in this upgrade, except for copying the recovered user data back to the new MicroSD card at the end of the procedure, after successful reinstallation of the operating system using the Firmware.
  3. It is the Firmware that creates the system partitions and prepares and installs the operating system to the new MicroSD card.
  4. Miracripsts Part B can then be used (where necessary) to copy the specific user data files that contain the vehicle configuration.
You're not understanding the cloning terminology. If you clone a hard disk or other media like a MicroSD Card you are making an exact copy of the source media. This means if the data on the MicroSD card is damaged, corrupt, or missing, then you will in effect, be copying all that damaged data back onto the new card. So there is absolutely no point in doing that.

This is why the process is so long winded as you are creating a fresh newly installed operating system with new partitions and files on a new card. We have to use the Firmware to do this for us.

Regarding Mirascripts:

Depending on the pre-installed version of the firmware on the RT6 units, upgrading to version 2.86 can, but not always result in the system resetting back to factory defaults. This requires the intervention of a dealer with online access to reconfigure the RT6 to the vehicle using their servers. It can't be done using your own version of Diagbox offline, as it goes into a secure mode.

This is where Mirascripts can come in handy so long as you re already able to access the specific configuration files. It can copy this vehicle-specific data (not the whole MicroSD) that you can later use to restore these special files in an attempt to restore the configuration of the vehicle options, language etc. It won't always work though, and may not even be needed if you are upgrading from a specific firmware version. Again, each case is different.

Next morning cold start, beeping is gone. I think it is just to remind you to change date and time. I figured out how to connect to bluetooth by playing with all the buttons on dash and steering wheel. Still can't get in to setup but that's ok, all i wanted was to listen to radio and connect to my phone for music.

I will try to take it to the dealer to get it configured, as its my daily running car im just hesitant to do so. Also, i used samsung Evo plus 64 GB card, as that was the smallest available in stores and it worked.
Thank you very much marc

What software did you use to clone the SD card?

Thanks again Marc for your help, I've ordered a new 16gb micro sd card and to play it safe a 32gb USB stick with led indicator light. Hopefully, I can get the mirrascript to work.

If the data is destroyed or the system is malfunctioning, you may not get Mirascripts to be able to copy off your user configuration files. If this is the case, you can bypass that part and just install the operating system onto the new MicroSD card using the Firmware. This may necessitate a visit to the dealer though if the configuration is lost and it defaults back to factory settings.

I had a go at installing 2.86 on the rt6 from a USB flash drive, The USB was flashing which looked good and the ejector noise stopped which was a result. But then I realised every 10 mins the display unit would make a noise then the screen would flicker, the USB drive light would go blank and then the ejector noise would come on once. Like it was in some sort of boot cycle. I sat for an 1hr with the car running and then decided to quit for the day. I think I might get a the cd from peugeot and do it that way, Just curious would i need to format the new sd card i put in the rt6 unit for a new install of 2.86??

No, it will just ask if you want to install the firmware again. Answer yes and it will overwrite everything again.

Please be aware that you may have a hardware fault that may not be resolvable by installing a new MicroSD card and reinstalling the operating system. In these cases, you may need a replacement Head Unit or send it off for repair.

Thanks again Marc. I was wondering if it might be the head unit. As I know there's a common issue with one of the cables, But I thought as I had all the other issues like mph to km, no radio and cruise control buttons not working I thought it has to be the SD card. I think Peugeot and Citroen should be doing recalls on the SD card problem as it seems to be quite a common fault.

An update from my end...

I successfully copied files from my old sd card to the computer (took about an hour to copy 10mb files)
Inside user_data > User-profile folder copied everything to my usb with mirascript, plugged it in the car and now my buttons are back to normal, screen functions are back to normal as well and the dashboard cluster is showing the right info too.
