Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Seems so, just popped up randomly. I had to read the blurb, had forgotten about the Monica.mickthemaverick wrote: 31 May 2023, 17:29 Is that a Monica 560 berline Steve? - not seen one of them since the seventies!!![]()

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Back in December 2018 we had a Monica Dalliance

Came across it searching for Van's recent whatsthisthen? using "sedan" as one of the search terms.
This popped up on the image list. May well have inspired Kate Bush to write...."wow, wow, wow, wow, wow wow.....un..believe..able" Absolutely bang on topic for the French Car Forum. 70's of course, wine is not the only thing made in the Loire!
....I'll leave it hanging though....someone may recognise it immediately

Re: Whatsthisthen?
According to this story of the Monica, fewer than 10 ever made it into production.
Neilhttps://carsforgottenstories.com/2020/0 ... -prestige/
The definitive Monica was presented in 1974 at the Paris Show, but the car’s life only continued until 1975, when, after fewer than 10 production cars had been built, Tastevin decided to abandon the car and sold all the designs and prototypes to Ligier, who never resumed its production.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
That's clarified a point in my mind thanks Neil, I knew it was the Paris motor show but I couldn't remember exactly when. I thought it was before I was married in 1973 but it seems it must have been after, unless of course it was there in 72 or 73 as well!!

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Your eye-witness account may well be more accurate than the reporting. That line does say the definitive Monica 560 was presented at the 1974 Show ie the production model, but this article also makes mention of the 1972 show where an earlier incarnation took the stand... the Bespoke V8 mentioned here was probably the "Martin" V8 and was probably not the Chrysler unit the "Monica 560" production cars were fitted with.mickthemaverick wrote: 31 May 2023, 18:32 That's clarified a point in my mind thanks Neil, I knew it was the Paris motor show but I couldn't remember exactly when. Neilhttps://www.curbsideclassic.com/curbsid ... onica-560/The car was finally unveiled at the October 1972 Paris Motor Show, complete with its bespoke V8 and a lavishly appointed interior. It was met by quizzical looks from the French motoring press, who were not allowed to take one for a spin, but did report that the car would be sold in 1973 for about FF 100,000 (the price of two Citroën SMs, or twelve 2CVs) and that an annual production of around 400 cars was expected.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Well found Neil! I think it may have been the 72 show that I went to but I'm really unsure and the slides I took are long gone during my various moves!! I am no longer in touch with the 2 chaps I went with so it would be a major research job to get a positive answer. Let's face it, it just doesn't justify that much effort to find out.
