...it was generally expected that he would attempt to land on the beach to the west of the town. The Daily Mail correspondent, realizing that Blériot had landed near the castle, set off at speed in a motor car and took Blériot to the harbor, where he was reunited with his wife. The couple, surrounded by a cheering crowd and photographers, were then taken to the Lord Warden Hotel at the foot of the Admiralty Pier; Blériot had become a celebrity.

A good read that, thanks Neil, and it confirms our theory about the Daily Mail man using the car but it obviously wasn't Harry Harper as he was in France. So who was he and what car did he drive?

Well its got white wall tyres and has the appearance of being fairly new. Interesting to find out about the Model T. According to wiki

The first production Model T was produced on August 12, 1908 and left the factory on September 27, 1908, at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit, Michigan.

So our little vehicle, if it is indeed a Model T would have been a very new one, shipped over to the UK from the USA, 10 months after the first one exited the factory.

Now this is Lord Northcliffe, the Newspaper Magnate who sponsored the Daily Mail Aviation prizes. Taken in 1908. Chances are that he would be at the Bleriot event you would have thought. Probably if anyone in the UK might get an early Model T shipped over it wasn't going to be Joe or Josephine public, but a nice new toy for the well-heeled.

Just converted a neighbour's high level cistern to low level. Imagine my reaction when I unscrewed the fixing screws to find these:



How much longer before she had a nasty shock one day?

Judging by the condition of the second screw I would have expected it would have just emptied its contents on you rather than falling on your head.

Someone's going to know it straight away but my deductions so far.... probably has a 2cv engine, and that looks very much like Citroen written on the bonnet. So should be a decent clue to search further...

Forget that going for a Le Patron now. They started off by importing Lomax's

What exactly is a Le Patron?

The Le Patron is a kitcar based on a Citroën 2cv, and is available as a four-wheel or tricycle. The tricycle has a national RDW type approval and has a single rear wheel.

Improved Lomax: Le Patron

Not importing Lomax anymore, meant a new era for us. We wanted to develop an improved ‘Lomax’ kit car for the same audience, with cosmetic changes and technical improvements as a starting point. In August 1997, the name “Le Patron” was chosen even before the first vehicle was built, kicking off the marketing campaign. In 1998 the sale of the Le Patron kit car started. In a very short time period, the Le Patron sales exceeded the sales of Lomax vehicles.
