Thanks, I've found a few examples, I'm sure my cars mileage (153 thousand) will be their leverage point as to why others I can find (about 5 to 8 grand!) won't be comparable and my old heap really is a free hundred quid tops.

I'd rather have the car back and fix it, will see if I can speak to someone tomorrow and they can tell me it's impossible.

Quick dump of what found, just for interest:

Ah well, the high mileage comparisons have started, that's had some use!

Not a typo! MOT history says:

Well it's French but your still making the same mistake, Peugeot rather than Citroen. No one crashes into a Citroen as we are experienced and professional drivers and can spot a taxi, mother's on school run, a dwarf driving a range rover and BMW or Audi from a mile off!!!

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

If you need to replace the car with another estate of a similar size and do not want a 1.5 hdi 308sw if you cannot get a 2 litre, have a look at Skoda Octavias, they have 2 litre diesels until fairly recently but EU rules mean they now have smaller engines with low powers.

Already got a Citroen, it doesn't run! :rofl2: (admittedly that fairly significantly increases its chances of avoiding crossing paths with a stray taxi!)

Sorry, just doesn't appeal. I'm sure they are fine but somehow I can't get excited about them!

Also would be a leap out of my "familiar groove" following about 17 years of back to back Peugeot and Citroen. Am very comfortable about these cars and looking after them.

A mate had an Audi A3 that covered high mileage but not excitingly, not economically, and not reliably! He later had a A4 which gives its credit did work but seemed to involve specialist tools for all sorts of things! Ribe bits, multi spline bits, stupid "timing tools" because the mark on the crank pulley was about 40° round front the hole it "aligned with" in the block - necessitating a tool that had its own mark for one bit and pin for the other. And there was two types, depending on the year!

Depending on availability and time to look, a nice clean 406 estate appeals. Might be hens teeth to find though!

Not sure what else. Maybe a 508 SW.

Estate car space is very useful, so can put that on the necessary spec I think. Can't stand SUVs.

I will admit a 406 estate has it's appeal, it looks good
