The circuit diagram does not show a post CAT O2 sensor, so I assumed that there was no CAT. Of course we know what happens when one assumes!alviseven wrote: 23 Mar 2026, 18:56 For info my car is a 1998 one so far too late not to be cat fitted (UK post 92)

Re: Saxo - temperature light on coolant ok issue
Quick news - seems all fixed
Blue sensor arrived today and removed the old one which looked cooked but appreciate this means nothing. However if the image is visible I think most people would not be surprised it was duff! Was surprised that no water came out of the blue sensor socket but perhaps the water was being held in by being air tight and not open for long anyway.
taken car out for quite a sensible test run managing just about 10 miles with the heater off all the way and no light no overheating and even stopped and let it tick over at one point. Also the seat belt warning light has now extinguished as well which is another bonus after just a quick fiddle with the connectors under the seat but it might also be that we have had two people in the front seat with belts on?
Got a bit of a tapping or something going on with the engine when warm but have not fully sorted out the resetting of the tappets so assume?
Anyway I think we are done for this task - thank you all so much could not have got there without the help and encouragement of all who have contributed as I was at one point at wits end. Eldest lad is very pleased and it seems to drive nicely.
