Many thanks if the roads were maintained like they used to be many years ago then none of this would of happened also putting cars that weigh over 2 ton on a road system which is older then me is also a joke too, I did suggested the proper materials to use ( as i was in that line of work)to our local council they did it i was shocked the road in question was the first road that damged a 207 i had a while back but i never got a penny for it, mind you the road now is so much better .Maybe we should all ask for a full break down of where the money goes .
Freedom of information 👌 Funny how they always say it's publics money but we never really have anything to do with it.

Usually they refuse compo claims unless they already knew about the pothole, but had not been out to fix it. Info at e.g. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/recla ... le-claims/
i would now argue any council that does this should surely be riminded the roads are buggered its as common as the sun rising that there will be a pothole

They tried it with my Mrs on her Toyota

I suppose the fact three other people on facebook had hit the same pothole and blown their car tyre to pieces over a week killed the argument "they didn't know about it" especially as they all had reference numbers from the roads safety team

They said sue us , we did it cost them about 5 times the cost of the £175 tyre

Dunno why they were so worried they just shaft every single person in the area for more council tax to cover the court costs

Only takes everyone to stick together & pay for nothing , they can't take everyone to court , there be broke . Trouble is no ones man enough. This is the first time I've ever had any claim paid out , they shafted themselves by saying this part of the road was repaired on such a date but I had photos to prove it hadn't been touched. Local councils think people are dumb & we're not

This is why I think the trend of having low profile tyres is a nonsense.

So glad my C4 grand has the 205/60 r16's. A 60 profile it's the minimum I'd want with the roads today.

I do also spend most of my time avoiding potholes when driving. I actually have a mental pothole map and get annoyed if I forget one.

I know  My Picasso has what looks like elastic bands wrapped around the rims

One reason I use an AX as a local daily-driver: steel wheels and 70 profile tyres... It laughs in the face of potholes :)

The hole that damaged my car wheel was over half the size of a large takeaway coffee cup, I went back the next day & found an empty cup no doubt thrown out of a car window ( which i hate ) i sat this into the water filled pothole and was shocked at the depth of it got to be 100mm .
As the photo shown this was the damaged received.

The tire on the rim shown above was fitted the same night to get me home , ive now a space saver , as the pump system with canister wont be any good, this wheel got me home . The next day the wheel had gone down not alot but enough to notice, I took this off left the car up on a stand while another rim I purchased was on its way to me, when that arrived I had the tire swapped off the old rim to the replacement, which the garage inspected it gave it the thumbs up swapped the tire & only charged me £20 for this . As for low profiles mine ain't that low, but the depth of these pot holes would damge any size wheel & even suspension components.
