I’m going to try XP pro 32 on a proper machine with firmware 4.2.2 on 7.02 see how it goes. Thankyou for your knowledgeable input everyone just the tedious slow process on an original machine to do. Oh the joys I’m a retro collector anyway and I do have decades or experience with physical machines. VM’s tend to confuse matters at times even though that’s how I usually prepare my machines and do V2P

Please do not always confuse everything.
The 7.02 has firmware 4.3.0.
The old Solo LEXIA 3 and Peugeot PLANET 2000 have firmware 4.2.2 with the last update.
The firmware is automatically installed with the software and should not be touched.
The DB software 7.02 requires a PC with dual processor and at least 1GB RAM - better 2-3 GB RAM.
Netframwork 3.5 and Java 7 Update approx. 59-70 should be installed.
XP prof Sp3 with all updates should be available.
Internet Explorer 8 should be the standard browser - is required for displaying the diagnostic software. This browser is no longer suitable for Internet use. Firefox may still be suitable for XP.
The LAN driver must work - otherwise it cannot be activated - switch off WLAN etc. - no AntiVir software.
However, an active Internet connection is not useful during installation.

Even if the software works, it is not possible to predict whether the inferior VCI clone can be used.

Just to clarify that part regarding Internet: It is essential that the Network Hardware Adapter is active and enabled, but that NO active Internet Connection is available, so make sure any WiFi networks you may usually connect to are not set to 'Automatically Connect' so it cannot connect to a WiFi network.

The activation is based on the hardware ID of the Network Adaptor, so this is why the actual adaptor must be enabled, but that there must be no active WiFi connection.
