But what you've learned in doing that is invaluable RogerRhothgar wrote: 10 Mar 2021, 10:15 What really upsets me more than anything is most of that cost is needless and the amount of hours I’ve invested, as you know, learning diagnostics via oscilloscope (and I’m still no expert) is beyond belief.
Intercooler leaks will give themselves away by what looks like an oil leak in the vicinity of the leak...Rhothgar wrote: 10 Mar 2021, 10:15 I suspect the intercooler might have a leak somewhere because I did find a chunk of it inside the front valance in August. Luckily I have a spare.
That would be the icing on the cake if I can get the turbo quiet and full power.
It'd more likely it's the little short stubby hose that links the turbo outlet to the plastic pipe that runs under the engine to the intercooler or one of the big rubber hoses to/from the intercooler... Small splits can be hard to find visually but can really upset running... They can hide when the engine is not running but open up under boost pressure...
Can you hear any whistling noises or air rushing around, especially when you manipulate the hoses?

Now, now, Jim! Don't be silly. Close but I doubt it's unparalleled. Just good guess work...CitroJim wrote: 10 Mar 2021, 16:54 But what you've learned in doing that is invaluable RogerYour knowledge of fixing HDi ECUs is now unparalleled - I take my hat off to you

You're just too kind.
I did have a quick look at that yesterday when I was in the MOT pit but I didn't manipulate it. I seem to recall I've taken it off before and cleaned it up. Will double check it when I go to get the welding done.CitroJim wrote: 10 Mar 2021, 16:54
