I ask because there are posts who claim there should be a pressure inside the tank. And it is best to put the car in raised position not low when putting on the LDS cap, not low position.
I wouldn’t lose sleep too much sleep over it. Whilst the suggestion may be best practice, I must have had mine up in the air dozens of times without ever having any issue.

I would, when even the MOT testers page has a special Info Sheet on the procedure..............

Feel free. Based on my experience the testers page is superfluous............ Does your experience differ?

Absolutely agree - it is certainly in the service procedures for X7 and C6 vehicles.

Whether this is more of an issue for newer C5s (X7) and C6s with the extra weight and therefore extra pressure on the fluid return when lowered - compare for example the typical weight of a 2001 MK I 2.0 HDi Saloon at 1385 Kg with an equivalent X7 model at 1608 kg, so that's another 223 Kg (of equivalent pressure) on the fluid being forced back into the tank. Without knowing the surface area to calculate the extra pressure, I suspect it is still significant and an unnecessary stress that can easily be avoided by raising the suspension to the highest setting first and loosening the LDS cap before lifting the car off the ground when wheels will be hanging.

My local ATS garage (that Citroen use for their MOTs) is well aware of the procedure and always follow it.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Yes, my tester forgot and had a jet of LDS hitting the garage roof via the breather hole !
It was lucky the bonnet was open.
