Obviously my experience of Carrefour (or any French hypermarche) carparks is limited - but they have always been vast expanses of adjoining tarmac!
British underground (or, more likely, multistorey) car parks are generally not places you'd either chance leaving - or risk getting out of - your car (with the possible exception of those that probably cost more than having your lights adjusted professionally!)
