Re: Peugeot RT4/5 Update Problem
It's simply because a major firmware update changes some of the RT* ECU parameters back to default values - which are easily fixed with Diagbox / Lexia / PP2000 without the need for Mirascripts.

Re: Peugeot RT4/5 Update Problem
Hello! Did you solve the problem? I have a similar situation on RT5.Calin009 wrote: 28 Feb 2018, 15:37 Hi
I ve updated the system from a new genuine 8.31 Peugeot CD....now the system does not function anymore. It asks for the Update CD and the process begins again
The error is : Error during flasher loading. The update was done with engine running ...no issues when it was in progress.
What do I have to do now ?!
It s a RT4 407 coupe , earlier version 7.01

Re: Peugeot RT4/5 Update Problem
Th CD lens on these units ages really quickly - not so bad for reading music files, but for data this can be really bad.
These older units don't have a USB, but I believe a cable can be obtained from the Peugeot dealers specifically (not Citroen). Depending on your existing firmware version you may have the USB functionality, but not for V7.*.
I think V8.11 has the USB functionality - which if you then copy the update CD onto the USB you may be ale to install it that way.

Re: Peugeot RT4/5 Update Problem
So first remember this is a 17 year old system. It has a HDD internally, and a backup battery. If the backup battery is on its way out then it will start to lose settings when the vehicle is switched off. So updating the firmware (if required is not necessarily going to solve your issues. It may be the HDD is starting to play up or that it's taking longer to startup because of the loss of memory.
With the engine running and the unit functioning, hold the MENU button in for 10 seconds. You should see an option that says "Unit Description". Select this, then you should see information about the firmware installed.
Let me have a screen shot or paste the info here so I can see what version you already have.

Re: Peugeot RT4/5 Update Problem
Ok, so you already have the latest firmware for this system - there's no later update, so save yourself £180 diagnostic charge as I can tell you that for free - so there's no update to the system. Seems they have told you they'll update it without even checking!
Several possibilities:
The system has an internal Hard Drive despite it's small size. When the firmware is updated, it updates a flash chip on the board with the new software and then the firmware is updated. You already have the latest firmware as I've said, so either the flash chip on the motherboard has become corrupt or the Hard Drive is starting to fail which may result in slow boot times and or corruption. I'm now erring towards this as opposed to the emergency call battery as loss of other functionality would indicate other issues.
There is a risk that reinstalling the firmware from a CD (which you can order from the dealer yourself (part: 9679242580)) costs only £10.66 inc. VAT from them. However there is a risk that reinstalling the same firmware by its very nature will mean writing data to the HDD and the onboard flash memory, which may exacerbate the problem. This may then cause the unit fail to boot and may start to request the upgrade CD all the time and get stuck in a loop.
The potential solution for this issue is to remove the unit from the dash, disconnect the quadlock connector first (and reattach last) and other cables so you can turn the unit over and locate 2 white micro switches on the underside of the unit. Once you know where these are, reconnect the cables (quadlock last) and ensure the upgrade CD is in the unit first, then start the vehicle and keep both these white switches depressed for about a minute, release, and then if successful it will try and boot from the CD again. This has been successful for some.
Where not, the unit will likely need repairing.
Why not give Cartronics a call - they are UK-based in Surrey and say they can fix these units. Link here:
