He gave me discs along with the car, and the ones on it are quite pitted. I wonder if he maybe got discs and gave up trying to fit them as the bolts wouldn't move? I will however get bolts, just in case I do break any. One garage I asked about doing the discs on my first c5 said get new callipers and bolts too cos if they are seized on we will take them off with a grinder! Does the xantia suffer from the corrosion between calliper and trailing arm also? I seem to remember reading that it didnt

The Xantia definitely DOES suffer from that weird corrosion between the radius arm and callipers, although (due to the lack of thread lock) it is not so difficult to remove the callipers. I would suggest you get replacement bolts, as if you have them you almost certainly won't need them (but if you don't have them, guess what?!?).

I was told the same when the first C5 went in for new discs. They did manage to do it without resorting to grinders and new calipers though.
