Least theres pleanty of fuel pumps in land rovers... :-D

Im GLAD its too far away! :roll: 8-)
Surely you can see fuel rail pressure as one of the parameters on the Lexia, feel sure that I read somewhere that one checked the calibration of the fuel pressure sensor by comparing the value in the lexia with a mechanical pressure gauge.
I WISH it was further away :-(

Will be interesting to see what the results of your digging are!

To get to the diagnostics port, lift the lid on the cubby box, and pull the rubber mat that covers the front at the top back and it's under there.

Thanks for your help David, I'd have struggled to find the socket hidden there.

Here's the previous listing:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-CITROEN- ... 33710eb444" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It says in this listing that it doesn't turn over.... If that's the case, I reckon he'll of looked at things like relays, starter motor, etc... I reckon it'll need a new engine.

I have that suspicion as when I spoke to the seller he appeared to be shall I say "a little guarded" in his choice of words to specific questions as if he was playing the dumb card, well tomorrow morning I'll know some if not all of the answers.

I've just taken a look on eBay for a 2.7 HDi lump, there's a completely bare engine on eBay ATM for £1800 stripped of every last sensor or Jaguar ones for £3,000, ouch :shock:

I remember looking under the bonnet when I had mine... Changing an engine on one isn't something I'd ever want to consider and I've changed several engines on V8 Range Rover's in the past.

Here's an under bonnet picture of a 2.7 HDi with the engine cover fitted and one without:

I've had a quick "shufftie" round C6Owners and this vehicle hasn't come up on there. There are a couple of instances of engine trouble but none involving a blue one. There have been question about using a 'short' block LR engine, however, nobody has tried it yet. Here is the thread http://c6owners.org/plugins/forum/forum ... c.php?7936" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My concern with using a Land Rover short blocks are:

1. The LR engine uses 1 turbo and has around 186bhp, as the C6 is twin turbo and has 208bhp you don't know for sure that the internals haven't been changed/strengthened to deal with the increase in boost pressure etc from the 2nd turbo.

2. The C6 engine is mounted transversely whilst the one in the LR is mounted longitudinally. (I know that a 1.8 20V Turbo engine in the Seat Leon Cupra isn't compatible with the 1.8 20v Turbo fitted to the VW Passat as all the castings and mounting positions are different as the Cupra is transverse whereas the Passat is longitudinal.)

3. On the Discovery 3/Range Rover Sport forums I've read several reports of these cars dieing or running like a bag of spanners after crankshaft failure... They've been stripped to find the camshaft in 2 pieces.

In my opinion, spending best part of £2k on a 2nd hand engine without being 100% sure that it'll fit is to much of a gamble.

Thanks for the photo's :) that engine looks a bit tight in there, I noticed that there's a rubber seal all around the engine area where the bonnet shuts down onto it, I've never noticed that on any other car before.

I've just had a phone call from a friend of mine who had been in touch with the seller about this car as well.

He asked him if he had a buy it now price in mind... He's said he wants £5,500 for it.

He's dreaming.....

There's one in Wakefield (Main Dealer) on an 07 plate with 34k miles on it for £10k. There's also several cheaper ones on eBay at the moment that are in good running condition.

For me for instance, £5500 for the car, it'd cost me at least £500 to get it home, that makes it £6k.

Then you've got £2k for an engine, then you've got to allow for clips and heat shields and bits and pieces that break when the engine is removed, allow £250 - £500 for that as the C6 is a rare car which means parts will be Citroen only.

That means that you're looking at £8000 - £8500 for a 6 year old, 80k mile C6 that is going to need a lot of time spent on it to do the work.

Obviously that's worst case scenario assuming that it does need a new engine. It'd be interesting to see what you can uncover tomorrow DickieG.
