The other thing these days is that engines generally out last the car. My rotten 406 that hadn't started and was doomed due to sill rust worm, not started in 12 months, put a battery on it, it drove onto the tat man's trailer. That was a 2.1td with 240K, I saved it at 160k from the English tat man for 600 squid

It used to have a toy stuffed rat sitting on the parcel shelf... Later, the rat took up residence in 'Rattiva', another delightfully scruffy Activa of mine and now, because I have no ratty cars it lives in my lounge down by one of my speakers.
Some visuals would be nice Jim. :-D The Rat down by the speakers, of course, and if you have them an external pic of the vehicles named Rat, or indeed Rattiva.
Here's the rat Neil... Originally purchased in IKEA so it's a Swedish breed... And no, it came complete and not as a self-build rat ;)

These days it leads a very pampered life...

And here's Rat in good company :)

And Rattiva the Activa...

Happy memories and some interesting tales hang from both of them :)

Shouldn't that be all three Jim? :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Not a Xantia, but my entrant into the high mileage club

Currently "in retirement" (with potentially terminal rust, on my "I'll get round to it" list)

My wife's 206 has no such mileage achievements (just ticked over 140k recently) but is able to produce different interesting numbers:

It went on to be retired at 243000+
Engine fine but needed clutch/DMF, suspension ram, steering rack and a few other bits and bobs.

Yes  He, if indeed he is a he - never checked, has indeed had an adventure or two over the years...

I sometimes think I ought to write a book about my Xantia adventures... I think I have enough material one way or another...
