Xantia clutch cable mods?

Hi there,
I have a '92 405 with 107,000 miles (original clutch) the plastic linkage on the front end of the clutch pedal (that i beleive you are describing) snapped.
From the haines manual it appears i need to take various parts out so i can remove the whole brake/clutch pedal block to replace the part.
Logic would have it that if a part was designed as a weak link then it should be reasonably easy to replace.
Does anyone know if there is another way? alternatively should i be thinking of replaceing anything else while i am there?

I've never done one (thank goodness) but from what I've read it seems the logic hat wasn't being worn when they did this and it is a full pedal box out job. If it's any consolation, I have had a couple of CXs that I had to remove the pedal box on for various reasons over the years, so it's something that they've obviously done for years.
I understand it is possible to do it insitu but with difficulty and the only advantage seems to be that there's a pin that goes through with a head on it that is refitted in reverse direction which means if the job needs doing again it will come out without dismantling most of the front on the car.
I suppose in reality, this pin is made to snap as a weakest link usually as the clutch is about to destroy itself and it may be the French way of telling the owner to rebuild the clutch to avoid having to do this job.
I think if you spend a bit of time searching, you will find a few threads going back a couple of years that describe the job on the Xantia.

I bought my 1.9D Xantia off ebay for £270 with 4 months MOT & Tax and 113k miles. I only had to fit a new set of spheres and a rear exhaust box. I changed a clutch on an old Peugeot 405D and changed the cable as a matter of course, The clutch linkage is the same s****y plastic set up, Except for this one, Yes it was metal, I too would like to know who makes them cos i'm sure that Citroen/Peugeot don't supply them.
Apparently the plastic linkage is designed to snap if the clutch diaphram gets heavey or cable decides bind, Thats So inventive of the French. Chris.
The buyer didn't put much of a description on the auction which I think put most ppl off, but it looked clean enough from the pic. So I took a risk and got away with it
(And it just sailed through it's MOT last week needing nothing more than a headlight adjusting and a new brake bulb!)

I have a '96 xantia and the plastic clip has just broken within a month of it being originally fixed. Fortunately it wasn't too far from home, and the RAC took me the rest of the way.
The citroen specialist that originally fixed it can only look at it on the 17th, so that means a week of being car less unless I can find somewhere else to do it quicker (I am not mechanically minded at all).
Apparently if it snaps again there is a clutch problem
