Xantia V6 Q's

its only really downchanging.. when your trying to make a gentle stop, it can all get a bit lurchy... just a little...
this is my first auto, apart from a chevy 5.8 old motorhome i brought recently

wheelspin er...

i wont make any friends here if i talk about that !

but, on a wet road, it does it in first few gears itself while i try to battle the torquesteer a little

but... as you said, it's not a RWD...

I've yet to find any automatic gearbox which is constantly as smooth as a manual CAN be, but then I equally struggle to find many drivers who can drive a manual gearbox as smooth as most automatics are for the majority of the time

Bear in mind that auto gearboxes are always trying to anticipate the drivers next move, they generally do quite well and trust me on this (I drive a wide variety of 'premium' car's at work) the V6 gearbox is about as smooth and responsive as you can get. It is also one of the few auto's that has 'Auto-Adaptive' AND still retains the manual over-ride of a 'Sport' button.

As for lurching on the downchange, err, have you driven a BMW 5 series?

No need to be so drastic... just plant your right foot into the carpet and listen to the tyres squealing... definately should have traction control...
the damn thing will change up as the wheels start to spin!!!

did the 406 coupe come with traction control along side the same engine that was in the xantia? or was it a later unit?

how does tc work, is it based on the abs sensors?

whats the engine and gearbox called on the xantia v6? ESJ something for the engine yea, and ZF something for the gearbox, and a Bosch what ECU?

I believe the engine is the ES9J4, gearbox is ZF 4HP20 and the ECU is a Bosch MP 7.0 Motronic.
