No, nothing ever happened since, that was 1984. Unfortunately, still too clear in the minds of both of us to ever forget, that was the biggest beating I've ever had!

I am not normally one to get involved in rage and road racing, but I just couldn't resist a blast of the airhorns today when I came up behind a muppet tearing along the footpath on one of those divvy little minimoto's-no helmet and doubtless with no insurance, licence, or tax, either.
One good long blast of the twintones and he was off-dumped it into someones front hedge, most amusing!!!
The sooner the police crack down on these the better, I think their sale should be banned unless you can produce an ACU racing licence!!!!

One of my favourite passtimes at night is to sneak up behind cyclists with no lights and to give 'em a quick blib on the wailers. They fair on poop themselves!

OK turbolag, while I agree wholeheartedly that cyclists should not be cycling without lights (and reflective gear, more lights and more reflective gear), you have to understand that it is not only terrifying for a cyclist to have someone sneak up behind them, it is dangerous. Cyclists are more vulnerable than anyone else on the road, and the margin of error between safety and death is very slim. Just imagine a scenario: you're sneaking up behind a cyclist to give them a bip, their front wheel goes into a pothole and they come off, you go over them. It's a drastic way to make a point, isn't it?
I've had too many close calls and nasty incidents on a cycle to be able to read that post with the chuckle that you no doubt intended. Please think twice before trying to intimidate the most vulnerable and most frequently injured road users.

During the early 80's my then housemate Paul used to pedal daily between Manor Park and Stratford, down one of East London's busiest roads, wearing a top hat-it always attracted attention, people saw him, and consequently didn't run him over.
Despite driving for 23 years, I have never been without a bicycle- its a lot more fun than a car[:)]- I vote for front shockers and cheap aluminium frames as the greatest recent advance in cycling- my latest all ally lightweight creation cost probably a quarter in real terms than the old cast iron monstrosities of my pre-car and motorbike youth, but it's still got the old Raleigh Pelican type thing badge, some things never change.....

I have been road raged a couple of times, last time was a huge guy that was covered with tattooes. Fortunatly I'm extremly lucky and he backed off when he saw my guard come up to block the punch as it was about to be swung through my window (I was still strapped into the drivers seat). Be careful out there, Jon certainly is NOT alone with a group of guys beating the sh!t out of drivers in road rage incidents....
If all else fails and someone runs me off the road, they better be tougher than a 1.5ton turbo charged CX heading for them under full throttle as they step out of there car .............................. Most certainly I'll never let anyone threaton my family, I don't care if I have to run them down, better them than my family (I'll just let the police sort it out).
Don't forget there is some real crazies out there, they get even crazier if there on drugs, even crazier again if they have drugged out friends to show off in front of.
If you think your really good and you do beat the cr@p out of them (instead of the other way around) it will be YOU that ends up in court or jail --That most certainly has happened before too. However if they do road rage and beat the cr@p out of you, they'll most likely only get a slap across the back of the hand (or nothing done at all).
As for those little mini bikes, the police have just outlawed them here (before someone gets killed). They are only allowed to be ridden on private property. Unfortunatly that doesn't stop the kids riding them on the roads

I almost skittled a kid on one last week at a round-a-bout. Some of those little bikes can do 80km/h !

How true this is!!! This is what happened in the Kenneth Noye case I mentioned earlier in the posting- for post readers who may be abroad, this was a high profile murder case in the UK.
A young chap in a van got into a bit of a shouting and swearing match match, which we are all tempted to do, over being cut up by a 4WD on a motorway slip road- the 4X4 driver got out, stabbed him to death and vanished.
He turned out to be Kenneth Noye, a violent and dangerous career criminal who had at one point in his life killed a copper who he found in his garden on observations- he got off on 'self defence'.
After the Roadrage killing he fled to Spain, and was tracked down, extradited, tried and sentenced to life a couple of years ago- he is apparently complaining at the moment about his 'human rights' being offended by his treatment in prison.
So there you go,the moral is: don't get involved- you never know who you are picking a row with.....

Yup theres too many of em out there, just let them go, especially when many of them seem to have firearms nowadays and many incidents are characterised by excessive violence.

I worked for a very well known national delivery company and received 'advanced driver training' due to the weight, capable speed, and the value of the goods carried in the van (Iveco Daily 6.5 ton). It is amazing how much I did'nt think about before I was trained. I think about everything now and am now able to drive to the standard of a traffic policeman, which is damn good.
It's something i'm proud about, and aim to maintain, but it's something every driver should be given the basics, which are hazard perception, foresight, treat every road as though you have never driven on it before, and never ever presume that something will not happen, because it might just be the case.
I've encountered bad driving many times (my car attracts them), and the occasional road rage, but I may spend 2 hours a week on a motorway and surrounding roads and camcorder these prats.
We need more TRAFFIC POLICE not bleeding gatso cameras.

I agree Bagstar! 5 cars drove past me earlier and two out of that five had drivers yacking into a mobile phone. No speed camera is going to get them for that which is why no-one takes a blind bit of notice of the law!
That said, the law doesn't make you a safe driver and with the driving test being so feeble, you usually have to learn the hard way. Given the ability of most modern cars to convey you down a bendy road at frightening speeds, the driving test seems an absolute farce. Does reversing around the corner in a Corsa teach you how to drive quickly down a B road expecting danger around every bend?

Hi everyone. After nearly 50 years of driving I must admit, not easilly I must say, to being a bad driver because of getting more angry and fed up with :- More and more round a bouts,traffic lights,speed humps,road narrowing,speed limits,safety camera's,restrictions and all the ploys to extort more and more money. Seem to spend more time checking the speedo,mirrors and trying to desyfer obscured road signs and markings than looking where I'm bloody going.
There rant over for now. Is this just me or what? Could this be just one reason for RR a general feeling of frustration and anger at being a section of society thats being picked on. Paranoia rules!!
