Kev, I know exactly what you're saying. It's a primal signal to tell the female world we're big, grown-up real men and bring it on!!!

Thing is, beards are a bit prickly and scratchy at close quarters and hence most women prefer they're kept in check. Mine was always content with it as it is less of a wire brush than some beards are.

To be fair, mine tends to a fair colour with a dash of grey and I keep it relatively short. Also, last time you saw me it was not a full beard. It is now but still well cropped.

Have a look at my photo in the Citroenian Xantia Files. It's a good likeness and taken at DSM back in June.

The CCC stand logo was quite good but i felt the vehicles on show were bettered by the Deux Chevaux stand behind it but that said it was perhaps because it had a variety of Acadiennes on it which i do have a penchant for . Good cars all though

I agree about the CCC stand, i thought it wasnt as good as it had been previously and there could have been more of a range on show.

The 2CV stand was very good, ive never seen so many slough built variations of the 2Cv all at the same time. A real rare sight. Though i thought Acadiennes were Dyane based Vans, unless the term covers the lot! Fourgonnette is a 2cv van, i think?

Anyhow, very nice they all were, and the Bijou too, very rare.

On the beard topic, at 23 i think without is better

FANFARE ! Ive finally changed my rear spheres over

Its only been on the to do list for over a year

My newly bought chain wrench broke on the first rear sphere when the handled snapped clean off

It did have a large breaker bar attached over it at the time though as they were a little tight

What truly amazed me was the power of plusgas. First attempt..sphere doesnt budge...even a little bit. Spray the join with plusgas and do something else for 5 minutes then try again.....cracks off a doddle

Its like heaven in a spray can for those difficult jobs. The same applied to the 9mm union nut on the anti sink.....mine looked as it it was just a pile of rust on the pipe....it came off like a knife through butter and cleaned up a treat with that stuff

Makes WD40 seem like a rank amateur.

BIG THANKS to Jim's previous sphere removal thread and PM advice which was my haynes manual throughout the job, and also to Rich (DickieG) who was manning the technical helpline for those first timer inevitable questions.....there are always some.

The results are amazing difference to ride quality on the rear leaving the front now feeling inadequate. I'll do the fronts in a couple of weeks now

Now as if the day couldnt get any better.... I needed some tyres too as all mine were on the limit and not ready for winter weather at all. Through one of my guys and one of our customers i managed to get x4 Michelin tyres with around 6mm tread on all of them for ......get this £30 fitted and balanced

The tyres are like new and still have the whiskers on the sides.

Yes they are part worns but money is tight being christmas (hence me doing mechanical work)

yeah very good result on the tyres, good part worns for £30 are better than a set of brand new el cheepo's thats for sure!
I think i will stick a set of part worns on the Activa, i can get really good quality rubber for no money at all, and since i will do about 1500-2k a year tops tyres usualy perish before i wear them out, well maybe not on the activa

I'll update my sphere changing thread concerning the removal of the anti-sink. I originally wrote it from memory and now, having done several since, there is an easier.better described way of doing it...

Fronts will be a doddle now. It's good to start with the tricky ones first.

Plus-Gas FTW. It's why I keep banging on about it...

One of the mechanics in the garage came in to ask me about it and borrow some in the afternoon. It was in the boot of the car though at the tyre shop
