Re: Davie's french attraction.
I’m away to deposit Gabby at the car hospital, then get the bus back home. Then myself, my sister, and bigpug are away to the Orkney isles to her house for a week. Gabby will get her transplants and sticking plaster when I’m away and shall be retested and declared fit for service on my return.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
It's a place I really want to visit sometime, especially having family on Shetland. Only reason it's never happened so far is just that it's so expensive to get to.

Just over £100 for two of us and big pug. That’s from Aberdeen to Kirkwall which is a little more expensive than scrabster to stromness. However taking into account 200 miles of driving compared to 50 miles the cheaper ferry up north would be more expensive. That is with sisters discount for living on the islands.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Can't remember exactly what we were looking at last time I looked into it (probably four or five years ago now), but by the time I'd got the four of us and a car booked in we were already north of £500 - and that was before looking into accomodation, the rest of the bunch getting up to Aberdeen in the first place etc...I just couldn't make the numbers make sense.
...Granted, I am somewhat of a hypocrite I guess given that I'm not batting an eye at us spending that going to an event over a weekend in Livingston next month, which will probably cost us more once spending money and food is factored in!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
£180 for car + 4 passengers from John O'Groats. Aberdeen was looking north of £500 for a cabin, and John O'Groats is only a couple of hours more driving from here - over the spectacular A9. My mate that lives in Bathgate (mid way between Ed and Glasgow) is married to a lass from Thurso (next to J O'G) - reckons he has done Inverness to JO'G in <2 hours - 120 miles on single carriageway with villages - takes some 'commitment' on the bits in between!! Got to be there by 13:00 for the ferry, so it will be an early start from here - it's at least 6 hours driving!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Interesting. I'll need to look into heading a bit further north next time...Just picked Aberdeen at the time simply because I lived a stone's throw from the harbour back then.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
After coming home overnight from Kirkwall to Aberdeen, I am not doing it again. Next time I won’t need a car so I will try flying. If I need the car I would go from Gills Bay to St Margaret’s Hope on Pentland Ferries, much cheaper than scrabster to stromness on northlink. Anyway back to reality. Gabby past mot no advisories back to work.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I’m afraid to say the welding patch is not a neat job like I got done on the activa. But then I got what I asked for both times. The difference is the activa cost 350 quid to rebuild the whole area, this one is a 40 quid sticky plaster.

As long as the patch does the job Davie, that's all that matters...
Might be a good idea now to get some rust protection wax in behind there now...
