Hi

Am following the orignal steps

- On the USB Key, enter the CMD folder and delete all the 'CMD' files except the RT6_USERCOM.CMD, which should now be the only file left in the CMD directory.

however on both the available MiraScriptsFor8.1x (v03.61).zip and MiraScriptsFor8.20 (v03.61).zip
when I unzip them to the USB the CMD folder there is no RT6_USERCOM.CMD file?

That's because you have downloaded the incorrect set of files from the linked website! You have downloaded files specifically for the RT4 and RT5 systems which are NOT compatible.

Remove that package completely and download the correct files as mentioned:
Using the link above, you will need to locate the 'RT6_MiraScripts' zip file shown in the table on the website and download that programme.
You will see this in the second row of the table.

Good evening guys . I'm new to the forum and have joined due to my Mrs having a similar problem as discussed on this thread.

The car in question is a Citroen DS3 2012

The radio unit / screen on the dash is constantly black and the head unit is constantly making a noise as if itnis trying to eject the disc .

My Mrs apparently has seen the screen come on occasionally.

Any advice regarding the issue will be super helpful.

I do have experience with pcb boards and SMD electronics so if it is a matter of replacing the sd card and updating the firmware..provided the correct firmware is available .

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Hi guys,

I'm facing a common issue with my C5 (2013) RT6 unit.
Suddenly, all gone off. Blank screen. Lightning, but nothing works. Just reading cd continuously in 15sec intervals.
I've downloaded 2.86 firmware and write ISO image on fat32 formated USB stick.
When sticked in, the unit is trying to read it and it stop loading cd for a few minutes before it gets back without any change or even notice on display.
I've burned the ISO image on cd and it start to read but stick the cd out in a few seconds.
Therefore, I decided to change the SD card (eventhought I was not able to make a backup with MS from BSI)
I used SanDisk 8GB, fat32 formated card (not the brand new! But formated..) and I've tried the same process again with USB stick and cd with no success.
The only thing that changed is the Engine fault warning light come up + triple beep sound with every start up..
I was following carefully all the recommended steps. Including battery disconnection procedure, etc.
My last chance is to use a brand new SD card. Do you think it would help?
Thank you for any reaction.

Mirascripts doesn't backup anything from the BSI - it only reads and copies the user specific files on the MicroSD card that contain the user and vehicle configuration settings. If it could not complete this task, then the SD card is already too badly damaged and the data has become corrupted.

Secondly, we know that copies of the official Firmware CD are prone to fail possibly die to copy protection, so we always recommend purchasing a genuine one for a few Euros from the dealer to eliminate this possibility.

The triple beep at start up would seem to indicate that the Head Unit has lost its configuration, as the BSI compares the VIN it has stored against the VIN in the RT6. If they don't match this will trigger the beeping. Of course, you hay have another issue too if the engine warning light is lit as the RT6 should not affect this at all.

At this stage, I would get a new MicroSD card. You can get a 16Gb one which is recommended because of the size of the later maps, but don't go bigger than this.
Next, make sure the MicroSD card is compatible - get a spec that matches the original.

Hi Marc,
Thank you very much for your feedback.

1. I explained myself wrong about the backup via MS. My bad..
I just wanted to notice I have no backup of my settings anymore.

2. Does this mean You don't recommend to use the downloaded firmware? And is it even worth to try to install it on new MicroSD? (Or is this the way how to f*ck the card up?)

3. The tripple beep I describes is related to the Engine fault warning. If this has no connection to RT6 so leave it..

4. The specs of MicroSD you mean the class? Brand? Or what exactly?

Thank you for your help

Ok, so

1) So if you don't have a Mirascript backup, you may have to have the RT6 configured via the main dealer.

For the C5 X7 with the CAN2004 electronic architecture, if the current firmware was version 2.70, 2.71, 2.75, or 2.77, then the chance of a direct upgrade without the need for a dealer configuration is much better. Any other version is likely to require intervention.

2) The best option to guarantee a correct firmware is from an original CD from the dealer. Some people have no problem installing the firmware from a downloaded file and extracted to USB, but others have had issues. By default the RT6 will try to read the CD first for the firmware - so this works best for others. Each owner, their vehicle, the specific damage / corruption and the circumstances are different, so there is not always one solution for all.

3) Ok

4) I mean the class and the version (MicroSDHC) which is what the old card should be as these support 2 -32 Gb and of course the speed.

Can I clone the MicroSD card in my PC instead of inserting a new card in the RT6 then installing firmware, installing maps etc?

My RT6 works most of the time but fails every month or two. Screen goes black, miles on the dash change to KM, no parking sensors, rev cam etc.
I keep a firmware CD in the glove box and use it to reinstall. Once it completes, everything works again for a few months.

I think replacing the MicroSD card will fix it but want to know should I try to clone it? I understand all the sat nav maps are installed on the card, so wouldn't this be easier than inserting a new blank MicroSD card then re-installing everything?

The best thing is to use the RT6-specific Mirascript programme to extract the user data files as mentioned in page 1 of the guide. Once you have this saved to your PC, you can then use the same programme to restore the data once the new MicroSD card is in place and partitioned with the new firmware.

You can also make a backup of the MicroSD card if you want an extra backup of the data, but it is important to ensure you only copy the relevant data files as specified so as not to cause issue with upgraded files from the firmware. The map partition data could also be copied back I expect, but I've not tested this personally.

Thanks Marc. Some time ago I upgraded the firmware to 2.85. I tried several times to install 2.86 but the installation failed every time, so I will probably stick with 2.85. I don't think I am missing much from what I've read.

When I backed up the data files with Mirascript, the process finished in just a second or 2 and included 6 files totalling 10KB.

My plan is to insert the new MicroSD card (16GB), install firmware version 2.85 from CD, then install the latest sat nav maps. Should I expect any issues with the maps installation? e.g. will I need a key to match the VIN or anything like that?

I can't help you with maps I'm afraid as these normally need a licence file to work which is preconfigured at the point of sale on the official Peugeot Navigation site. But if you already have purchased these, then the source and licence should work once the unit is working correctly and as long as it has your VIN coded into it if necessary. That is what the Mirascripts is for though.

I tried inserting the new SD card and installing the firmware to it from CD but after completing the installation it showed an error then restarted, so I decided to try cloning the old SD card to the new one. I used free software called AOMEI Backupper to clone the Micro SD card directly from one card to the other. After starting the car with the cloned SD card inserted it wouldn't boot, so I reinstalled the firmware from CD and now it works as it should.

Great, pleased you have it sorted and thanks for your solution, it may help others in a similar situation.

Unfortunately each case is different and the stages of file corruption / card failure will differ, so looks like you managed to get to the stage where you could at least reinstall the firmware. I suspect cloning won't help in some cases if the files are too badly corrupted, as it will just copy the damaged files over.

Thanks for your help Marc.

I should add that I disconnected the battery before swapping the MicroSD cards, but I didn't remove the RT6 from the car, just pulled it out far enough to open it and swap the cards, without removing any of the cables.

Also I disconnected the positive battery terminal not the negative, because the positive looked much easier to disconnect. I couldn't see where the negative was or how to disconnect it on my Peugeot 3008.

Hi guys,

I have the same problem with my SD card - it totally died. My unit showed (until it worked) RNEG2.75.D.2 version. I assume that I should install the firmware version 2.75. May I get anywhere the ISO file?

Many thanks for any help.
