A burger for tea and a tin of cider, drown my sorrows!

Wiper motor hopefully better,

Oh and whilst I spotted where to find it, spot the cabin filter(s) that needed a change:
IMG_20251116_162052900.jpg
I made sure to ram the new ones in violently as the predecessors seem to have been!
Fairly sure they had concertinaed in situ so would have been short and hence bypassing at the far end. Goodness knows when last changed.

New ones are supposed to be "active carbon filters" (hence grey tinge) old ones are not and started off near white!

This is where they live:
IMG_20251116_162218569_HDR.jpg
IMG_20251116_162214925_HDR.jpg
(Just left of a non-functional clutch pedal  )

Oh, forgot to say: disconnecting steering column greatly simplified getting clutch pedal and bracket into place.

Don't worry we're all doing stuff like it, pity the time of year and all that , not nice laying on a cold ground , and a wet one . Pricey for garage as your paying parts and labor but you get the warranty, cheaper if you do it yourself, but its finding spare time and the weather can mess things up this time of year.

Possible garage option, as per:
https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/view ... 72#p733172
6 miles, 15 minutes away. A long way without functional clutch but have been towed in that direction previously (when the C5 was playing up) so eminently doable.
Website says they do clutches.

For me it's a bit more:
give the garage the hassle, at least you won't get frostbite or pneumonia that way
:-D

I don't get stressed doing car jobs, all good fun. Hate the wet though.

Really, really, just get my garage emptied at some point, all this would be simplified if I could just roll the car inside.

Oh yes them prices definitely make the wallet lose pounds ( that was a poor weight joke ). My father inlaw once said to me , its worth spending the money repairing a car , even though it might not be worth much , its worth it to you as you know the car and its cheaper then buying another car with a possible shed load of unknown problems

Blue 308 Plan is settled, it's getting fixed by E Howarth up at Preston.
Will arrange to get it to them on Sunday afternoon (err "challenging" drive or a tow, TBC) and leave the key with them, he's said early next week he'll be get on with it.

Explained about (flipping tight) right hand hub nut (that bent my breaker bar and didn't come loose!) and new driveshaft I bought will be in the boot for them to fit.

Had a good chat with him this afternoon - amazingly he can remember my C5 coming to him maybe a couple of years back! :)

Going to sit this one out and "just pay the man". :-D

Just a few interesting threads I read when clutch problem researching, copied here for interest:

Here:
https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/u ... xw.315058/

Mentions:
(recall ID) HML New Clutch master cylinder fitted.
Looking for "recall HML" brings up, a lot of HTML white noise :? and:

Here:
https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/c ... wn.334796/

Describes Recall HML differently as:
Had the clutch pedal done a couple months ago. Some plastic bit inside needed replacing. Again not in stock so was in for a couple of days as they have to take it all apart to see if it needs replacing before ordering it. (14.07.18)
They did HML replaced master cylinder, removed r+r spring and lubricated.(25/07/18)
Vehicle Health Check which highlighted "clutch pedal squeak/grind after recall.

Bought my 2015 308 a fortnight ago. Love it but a couple of days ago I noticed the clutch creaks when I release it slowly. This is most noticeable when crawling in traffic and I am using the clutch a lot shifting between 1st and 2nd and using the Clutch to prevent stalling.(27/04/17)

Mine had new clutch new pedal 2 slavecylinder - (12/05/17)
Actually re-reading that it could be HML and replaced master cylinder.
Slave cylinder done about a year earlier. (No replacement them together there, eh Husky! :x )

Just thought was interesting. Taking this off and lubricating seems like it was worthwhile, hopefully the red rubber grease keeps it quiet for a good while :)

At this time of year, getting someone else, as long as they are trustworthy, to do the clutch is a good plan Matt...
