Well good luck with that Kenny the weather is not supposed to be great. If their anything like the C5 they're not too bad if you pin them correctly. Marc might have a walkthrough for you.

Yes Matt , the last new turbo was a disaster and epic waste of time. Hopefully the replacement will work when fitted. The cat on the Dpf has a black section along the one of the sides not much about 100mm long and 15mm wide. I don't think it will affect it too much there seems to have been a lot of soot sitting there. I filled the Dpf with water but it only dribbled out. I think it is actually pretty clogged I'll just have to take a bit of time cleaning it. Another couple of weeks at this stage won't make much difference.
I discovered a gaping hole in the exhaust on the Primera in the front section which was muffled by a clamp on heat shield, I thought that section was ok so didn't buy a replacement. I will rap it with a bit of pipe and weld it in place. I still have to put a new regulator into the Primera so it's going to the rest of the weekend. it should hold long enough to get the C5 on the road over the next few weeks and then move it on

Hope you get a decent run of weather tomorrow to make progress as described - and if you've any spare sunshine if you can push it my way and I'll get stuff done too! (Alexa's forecast says rain tomorrow here unfortunately, hope "she" is wrong! :) )

It's a bank holiday weekend here so a bit more time. The weather is patchy at best so far. Her indoors wants me to bring her out for lunch and to be honest I could do with a change of scenery. If necessary I'll work from home on Tuesday and get at it as soon as I am finished. I have the pipe wrapped with two sections of pipe essentially a sleeve held on with pipe clamps. I'm going to get some high temp stove sealant and push it in around the edges. it should last a few years. This is the hole I'm dealing with but I discovered another hole on the other side hence the sleeve. It's right in front of the cat so a weld in that badly corroded pipe was never going to work.

Well I got the exhaust patched using a section of pipe cut in half and sleeved onto the pipe with some exhaust paste and pipe clamps. Regulator in and working on the Primera. I now have a functioning car at least that doesn't sound like it is going to fall apart.

Err, well at least there's no doubt where any noise might be coming from!! Good work on the patching up. It's hard work fixing something you know is going to be moved on - enthusiasm to go the extra mile is hard to find!

When I was just getting ready to sell on my first car (a MK2 Golf) it sprang a leak from the water pump whilst just sat on the drive! Very rusty tiny M6? Fixings in an aluminium housing - all pretty thoroughly seized in place. Absolute pig of a job - frustration increased by knowing I wasn't going to get any benefit from the fix!

I just finished cleaning the DPF. It is a very labour intensive job. The first part is 30l bucket with 7 dishwasher tablets. I used hot water appx 60c starting but left it steeping with agetation every couple of hours. Needless to say very dirty job. Really black water.

This is then flushed with copious amounts of water.

Then I used a 5 to 1 brick acid bath this is agetated every 10 mins for about an hour and a half. Then flushed out with loads of water until it runs clean this part of the clean in all takes about 2 and a half hours. You will eventually end up with clean water but it takes an awful lot of water and the water will be really orange during the flushing.

Fantastic description thank you!

I think the orange is the key bit - my understanding is all the black is soot (which burns off during regen) but the orange, I think, is the Eolys residue which does not burn off.

So tons of orange is definitely progress being made!! Excellent :)

Yeah absolutely a result when I started water was very slow to flow through the Dpf. After the dishwasher tablets it flowed more freely. Now water goes Through all the holes freely the more orange stuff comes out the better the water flows which indicates it improves overall flow 🤞. So happy bunny here. I'm going to leave it drying for a few days and install turbo then as well. The new one came without gasket kit so waiting on it to arrive from autdoc with a high pressure A/C hose. I'm not saying when I expect it to be on the road in case I put the mockers on it.

I'm not sure what colour cerine or its products are but the orange colour is probably from the iron which is also part of the Eolys formula.

Id imagine so I ran around 15 30l buckets of water through it and most of it was orange. So significant surface area has been cleaned by doing it. It's the only way to clean it in a relatively safe manner. Tyvek suit chemical gauntlets and face shield are a must for the acid. And rubber boots of course.
