So who was Basil's voice based on then?

Sorry, yes - Neil was right - Basil's voice (and the character of Dick Dastardly) was based on Thomas Terry Hoar Stevens. For most of his career, Basil's voice and puppetry was supplied by Ivan Owen who made sure he - quite literally - kept his head below the parapet as he didn't want to be known and didn't want to detract from Basil's fame

In my mind, any time anyone mentions either a Triumph Stag or a Jagwarrrr, it should be done so in the voice of Terry Thomas - it just seems so right pronounced that way

When I first saw the pic I thought it was Louis Mountbatten and Sevvy Ballesteros would you believe!! What's worse is I havn't got any other names yet!! I do wonder if it is at Andrews Airforce Base?
