A builder's brick fell off his truck and holed my Xantia - right under the front passenger seat - tore right through the metal. Ditto the lights being so bad I couldn't get the reg - as due to the huge bang I immediately stopped.

One of my customers had worse than that, on a bendy road a chain saw flew off the back of a lorry and went end to end under his three month old Merc ripping everything in its path, one Merc written off and nobody to blame, the lorry had gone into the distance and no witnesses.

I wouldn't be surprised if that needs a new wheel bearing sooner rather than later....

Had similar on my HDi one dark morning - drove into one of those 12" dia black corrugated drain pipes - fortunately only broke the front fogs!

Yep very dark, crested hill and saw hazard lights ahead (damaged Volvo for the same reason) ), add in Xantia headlamps...distracted by the hazard ahead, ....boom

My Activa was written off before I'd got it by a collision with a badger, which did an enormous amount of damage underneath.

I have now totally simplified the way to fit upgraded lamps from Hella...these lamp units have approval/markings for use in the Eu and also use the original style H1 bulbs.

I am making final measurements, drawing "Lay-On" masks to enable the small alterations to be DIY-able with minimal materials.
At present other than the Hella Units I will need the glass "blown" in plastic, the face plate cut with a water-jet in S-Steel and 2x simple flat brackets made at the same time.

I will hide these behind the face plate and have a set of drilled holes with lens inserted..

What the MoT regs say========== Headlamps should pass without problems.

Some vehicles may be fitted with High Intensity Discharge(HID)headlamps. It is not permitted to convert existing halogen headlamp units for use with HID bulbs.

If it is clear that such a conversion has been carried out, rather than replacing the entire unit with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs, the headlamp should be rejected.

A ‘light source’ means any bulb, LED or other means of emitting light.Repairs to lamps must be assessed considering security, colour, light output and durability.4.1.5Levelling devices
Where a manual headlamp levelling device(driver control) is fitted it must work. Before operating the control, check the setting it is on and return it to the same place.
Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with a suspension or headlamp self-levelling system.
Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self-levelling systems.
In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.HID lamps may have ‘DCR’ marked on the headlamp lens, otherwise they can be identified by taking a few seconds to reach full intensity having a bluish tinge to the light?having an igniter module/inverter behind the headlamp

Major(b)Product on the lens or light source which obviously reduces light intensity or changes emitted colour to other than white or yellow.

Not a clue....the rebuilt pump was put on 3+ years ago

bolt failed just above the thread....the long top one...the bent one in the photo

I would have thought that failure likely caused by the other bolts being loose, throwing strain any vibration onto that one.
