That's probably just storing the fire that will no doubt engulf it, if it's a Renault..

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
http://stickyfinger-activa.blogspot.co.uk/ Blog Update.....
Leak fixed...the offending item on the right, note the weeping seam the the look of an old cooked bit of plastic.......caught it just in time.

It was just the odd drip when I first looked a few days after getting the car....then over the two weeks it developed into a drip drip, before starting to replace it was a drip-drip-drip-drip-drip...about 1/4 ltr/hour I would guess and VERY easy to miss. Do YOU have a V6 using a tiny amount ?...then check the Degass Tank with care because this can start slow.
The thing about it, it drips from the same position/flows in the same way down as if the overflow has spat a little....so check with coolant low(ish) to prevent confusion.
All cleaned and oiled/greased

And back together

Thank you...
you know you have OCD when you clean and polish the underside of an air filter box
Next hit for OCD are the brakes/discs/brake2caliper pipes to be replaced......ah the sweet smell of Caliper paint to give me the necessary crazy head for the rear Activa Ram and then the MoT

Hi
Nope, the plan will be to keep this as is, she is too good to chop around and being an easrly S1 car a little to rare to mess with. My plans changed as soon as I saw its condition/undersides.
Long term I think the big job will be repaint in the original blue colour, any thing else will just be messing with a "good car" and I don't think that is a good way to go.
Any value for the car will always be in Germany/France/Netherlands

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
....it is 18+, there is/will always a little "bit" to do,but that is what lists are for.
I always approach it from the view of the question...."how many other jobs can I do while in there"....I then just work by priory [over] urgency/safety/improvement
So, whilst down there, I did the main job of the Degass tank, but I also checked and cleaned all the hoses. I cleaned/oiled all moving parts, cleaned the areas metal pipes and surfaces and rust treated the pipe unions, re-made all electrical connection using a contact cleaner then a water proofing/sealing spray (marine), I treated a small "rust spot" by the engine mount, replaced the clutch joint oil soak washer and removed/greased the all the ball joints/cups/springs.
Next I attack the Discs and pads....so when in there I will also : clean out wing/sill area and Dinatrol the area, replace brake pressure hoses, remove and reseal the calipers....ect ect..

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
Looks like I did my conversion at the right time! Those gassing tanks were still readily available last summer! In fact, there was very little that I needed that wasn't available.
The only two things that I can remember are the pipe from the steering rack to the external pressure regulator valve mounted on the chassis leg on the V6, and the coolant pipe that joins the heater matrix on the bulkhead. Everything else was available off the shelf within 48 hours!
David.

That is what I am doing...it will take more time but with even simple 3/4 way Hydro blocks NFP and little things like engine Temp Sensors gone....we will need to,CitroJim wrote:IndeedStickyfinger wrote:Look at Cit Service...it will frighten you David ....NFP is heavily in evidence these days..

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
On the matter of stopping my car and the vibration when high speed braking....I think I may of found the problem.....geeze
This is a lesson in cheapo disks ...DON'T do it.

Lucky these did not go PING !
Now, that's better
, Nice new Eicher Front Brake Discs fitted up with Mintex Pads.
I will put on a set of rebuild calipers when required (rebuild them over the summer), these ones are good with nice seals and clean pistons.
