And as an added bonus - it fights stubborn stains, cleans below the gum line, and soothes that irritating itch. Use sparingly as directed.

Headlamp restoration paste and polishing pads arrived today,
A little "gardening" / groundworks in prep for the slide to playhouse project. No prizes for guessing where we're off to tomorrow morning

The "lawn" in front of the playhouse, where the bottom end of the slide will rest was the result of the following process:
- dig up a load of bushes, weeds and general wild undergrowth,
- quickly rotavator the area,
- chuck some grass seeds down.
As such it's all over the place! We've confirmed (via "water level" - i.e. length of clear hose and a bit of water+blue antifreeze I had going spare!) the "hump" roughly in line with the slide is approximately 6-8" / 150-200mm higher than the other side of the garden, so we've dug about a meter square area for the slide base. The surrounding area will eventually be brought down to match (enthusiasm/energy driven rate of this happening is TBC) and the area re-seeded.
Surprisingly, 12 bucket fulls of spoil is generated from such a small area! So it's a fair task to get perhaps a four metre by four metre area all down by the same amount! Enough to get the slide "operational" is priority.
Also looking at play bark as a soft landing + weed suppression solution for und r the playhouse itself.

A quick bit of maths suggests that's another FIFTEEN trips to the tip and 180 bucket fulls!
Another play with a hired mini digger and a skip probably the most sensible option. Hmmm

It's well and truly sounding good Matt, my kids had to put up with two scaffold boards strapped together with truck straps, wrapped in a pond liner and leaning on the top of an old coal bunker. The bottom end went onto hardcore area but they loved it!!
Further to the mini digger hire, have you seen the post on here?

Mud in the garden seems to have some sort of magnetic appeal to my boys, so you d guess they'd enjoy what you described mucbvthd same as yours did!mickthemaverick wrote: 25 Apr 2025, 20:59 It's well and truly sounding good Matt, my kids had to put up with two scaffold boards strapped together with truck straps, wrapped in a pond liner and leaning on the top of an old coal bunker. Oh that seems cheap! I looked at second hand mini diggers when hiring one to dig foundations for a big storage shed/woodstore/potting shed (though actually built in Thermalite block) a few years back.Further to the mini digger hire, have you seen the post on here?![]()

One of the little trailers has a slightly wonky hitch (I think an internal spring has gone - it latches very securely but to release it needs a pull of the handle as well as lifting (hard to describe!)
A chance stumbling across this listing should hopefully resolve that:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395788638119
I think £4 including delivery is very much into "too good to be true" territory to be honest, so am half expecting to be making a demand on eBay's Buyer Protection Guarantee in the near future!!
I recall this thread, Stickyfinger was fettling a trailer too:

That's unbelievably cheap Matt - maybe it's a Temu one and when it turns up it'll be a miniature one and for a 5mm ball rather than a 50mm one...
But then again, it might just be absolutely perfect... Gotta be worth a go

If you're going to use that £4 tow hitch on the road, then you're a braver man than I

Claims 50mm so I'm hoping that's actually it's size rather than perhaps "a 50mm tow ball for a 1:32 model" but we'll see!CitroJim wrote: 02 May 2025, 17:29 That's unbelievably cheap Matt - maybe it's a Temu one and when it turns up it'll be a miniature one and for a 5mm ball rather than a 50mm one...
I'm going with it's claimed "800 kg rating" having a nice big fat factor of safety over the little 375 kg capacity (and circa 40 kg empty weight) trailer it'll be coupled to. But I'll take a judgement on quite how much faith I put in it once I have it in my hand.bobins wrote: 02 May 2025, 18:03 If you're going to use that £4 tow hitch on the road, then you're a braver man than I![]()

sometimes I am just this big rash optimist and splash vast sums willy-nilly
(Super rash in this case, as I've put money down for a couple of them (which unlocked a further 5% discount, so these are in fact £3.81 tow hitches I'm gambling with!!))

This is purely hypothetical, and much much more of a talking point than anything 'legal' or finger pointing, but in the highly very ridiculously unlikely event of anything going bad with that hitch and it uncoupling the trailer and the trailer sails off and wipes out the local convent's annual day trip to take the oprhans to the zoo, the ensuing court case could contain an argument along the lines of - 'You have a reasonable understanding of mechanics, physics, and transport - it is therefore reasonable to say that you could have expected a £3.81 tow hitch to be substandard'. Obviously, there's the very strong counter argument of - 'How was I to know ? It was sold as a trailer hitch and so that's what I used it for'.
Food for thought.
