Alasdair, I'm totally brain-dead at the moment and can't marshal more than about three brain cells but will think about it as soon as I can and come up with a test plan for you ;)

It turns out I have three working brain cells, but they are not working well together. One is stuck in neutral, another is jammed in first, while the third cannot get out of reverse. Between the three of them they don't get anywhere at all!

Does your car have the diode mod?
It really sounds like the front activa electrovalve is jammed or not getting current.

Alasdair, still have less than five brain cells working today but in the meantime have a look at my Activa Buyers Guide

viewtopic.php?t=25117

I wrote this years ago when I could still make my brain work...

It should give you a good method of thoroughly checking the Activa bits...

Let us know how you get on...

Welcome back to the living Jim :)

Pulled and pushed front "roll rods".....the car leans = I'm confused now.

No creaks or groans, linkages all greased and fitting well, no thinning on the rods, "rod clamps" all good.

It would be worth checking your Activa Accumulator Alasdair... How many push-pulls on the roll corrector rods can you do with the engine off?

If all else fails I'll come and see you for a weekend... Can't be for another couple of weeks though...

Yes, and when you've had a tug then try doing it with the engine off...

One and a half with engine off.

Works fine with engine on.....which leads me to the question, if it works with engine on, why would it roll when driving ?

one and a half is not many Alasdair... The usual is about five or six if the accumulators are good...

The Activa system is hydraulically very 'hungry' and demanding and unless both accumulators, the Activa balancing sphere, pump and regulator are in perfect working order the system will not work properly...

You need my pressure measuring equipment and you will have it...

Very happy to help you diagnose the issue...

I can't visit now over a weekend until near the end of August - the weekend of the 27th... I have a couple of cycle sportives and a parkrun commitment to meet on the previous weekends.. Unless we go for a mid-week?

Let me know ;)

Well with all this rain....7 days now !.....I needed a project so I decided to continue with the headlamp modifications. (well experimenting)

I decided to sacrifice a LHD headlamp glass and attempt to cut out the lens section, so with a borrowed tile cutter I have managed this.
20170802_163029.jpg
The out rim is very strong (thick glass) so I think it may just be OK long term.

The next step is to take some thick lexian and cut that to fit into the "hole"......lets see how far I get ! :)

(a reminder where I left the project)

I thought that your hydraulic symptoms might be caused by the pump drawing air from a loose connection or a split in the pipe from the reservoir?

Good thinking Mike, we'll check that on Monday when Alasdair and I have a good look at the issue...
