Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Almost got to the end of the workshop clearance, the metal cabinets have gone, dismantled and left for the scrap metal collectors and now I just have a play with the angle grinder to break down the desk frames and then cut the wood into sizes that will go in the car for a trip to the recycling yard. Shame I have to cut the big sheets up but I can't transport them otherwise!!

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Do you not have a community wood reclaimed centre? They would probably come round and grab the wood for free.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Not that I know of. We have a reclaimed wood section at the recycling centre who will recycle it so that is where it is going. It's availability has been advertised on local boards and the local paper as well as local gumtree and our neighbourhood forum for the last three weeks with no takers so time is up. I have to clear it by the weekend and I am otherwise occupied on Thursday and Friday!!

"Wood stores – Community Wood Recycling" https://communitywoodrecycling.org.uk/wood-stores/. Just an idea Incase anyone else has wood to get rid of. Every bit helps the planet. Also an excellent way to buy wood rather than paying Wickes/BandQ prices which may warp as they are new.

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
I had a look at them Ryan but unfortunately they don't take chipboard which 4 of my sheets are so not worth messing about for one sheet of ply. This is the page from their website:
As you can see they charge to collect unless you have some really good wood to dispose of.

Off to the biomass burners to generate electricity - so depending on your viewpoint that means you either get brownie points for helping to 'save the planet', or have to stand on the naughty step for helping with the demise of the planetmickthemaverick wrote: 11 Oct 2022, 19:01 Not that I know of. Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
To be honest I would rather have just brought the big sheets home to store on the garage roof and provide the resulting bit of extra insulation for the garage but not much use for that cut up into boot sized peces, so into the biomass burner it must go, if they do that with black ash laminated chipboard!!

B&M sell them, or ask a construction site mate to grab them for you or get you a discount

Can you gentlemen surmise from this photo which specialist tool I used to solve the riddle of the dastardly derailleur? Front one, in this case..
