Not surprised, they were getting quite hard to get when Dad gave up and that was well over 30 years ago now...

After our conversation last week I took a close look at the new fag packets - very anonymous aren't they and some of the images are pretty thought-provoking...

It's hard to tell what variety the fags are now. I couldn't see it on the packet and had to ask the owner to point it out...

Some difference to the iconic status of many fag packet designs of years and years ago...

Still, if it helps people give up the vile things then good :)

I do not think people has been smoking "because the packet is nice" for quite some time.

The biggest influence/stop smoking "thing" is the Vapouriser....it is helping me for sure.

If they were really serious about encouraging people to stop smoking they would just ban tobacco. All I see with the new pricing, packages and pack sizes is a jump in revenue for the tax man. More than doubling the minimum amount you can buy surely means you have to smoke more.

It's not in the government's interest to ban tobacco or booze; revenue from both those sources help fund the NHS. I believe the net revenue is very much greater than the cost of treating smoking and boozing related diseases.

Anonymous fag packets and shocking images is just a nod to it, nothing more...

Same goes for fuel duty. It's not in their interest to kill the cash cow that is the petroleum industry by going all out for alternative power sources for transport.

Not until they have worked out an effective way of milking the system anyway...

This is not political. It's been going on for ever and politics don't come into it, just hard-hearted economics...
