I think the wheels would be better with spacers, but certainly wouldn't take the 20mm ones I have. I would say 5mm would make all the difference. If I put on my slightly wider 215/45 section tyres instead of the 205/50 on them just now that would be the equivalent of 5mm. They are c4 vts 17" resolfen wheels. I'm going to leave them on, and keep 5 standard 15" activa wheels for when I want originality. I was going to chuck the 15's on to the berlingo, but the tyres on it are so grippy it would be a shame to change them [emoji13] [emoji23]

That's one of my favourite places for taking photos of cars. There are so many nice bits here for photography with nice backgrounds.

I did notice the bolts for and the caliper covers are part their best so I will get a set to put with the discs and pads that i have already for it. I may also but new bolts just so when it's done everything will get replaced. It won't be a big expense and i expect I will only ever have to change the rear brakes once!

Yes, generally speaking rear pads do last a long time and this is one reason behind why when you come to do them they can be a right trial...

I have a feeling Gabriel's were original...

Xantias are very light on their hind 'feet'. Normally you have to replace the rear tyres as they have started to crack through old age, and not because there is no tread left.

That's true. Applies to the fronts for me too!

Yes, but this is because you have fitted a governor to the Activa, set to 50MPH!

:rofl2: Not so far off the truth James!! No, it's actually the miles I do by bike.. No chance of my bike tyres ever suffering the same fate!!!

I changed the original pads on my Xantia HDi at 130k. I also removed a rear tyre at over 100k as it was past its best.....pretty sure it was an original one!!

When I used to commute by bike, a new rear tyre every 1500 miles or so; new chain at about the same time, and a new block at every second chain change. Cheap, commuting by bike :?

That's about my rate of consumption of bike consumables Richard although I'm getting on for 2,000 miles out of my current rear Conit SuperSport :D Excellent tyres...

I stock up on tyres when Wiggle has my favourite Contis on special offer.... They regularly offer them for under £20...

I get through a set of front disc pads about every 1500 miles. Chain looks good but I have a spare on standby!

Riding through the winter really knackers chains - all the road crud makes a nice grinding paste!

My mate used to be a motor bike courier in London, and reckoned on about the same sort of mileage out of a rear tyre. Trouble was he was doing 3-400 miles a week, and they cost £150 each or something. In the early 80s!!

I keep my chain well lubed with pukka wet lube Richard... And I clean it once a week... I hope that'll help it live a bit longer...

The original chains on my bikes are endless - love to know how they made the bike and mech. like that... New chain is a normal split link one...

Ouch! Yes, I remember when I was a biker in the 80s you could get through a back tyre remarkably quickly on a big bike!!!

Big bikes are not cheap to run...

But they are fun!
