Dutch guy dropping a V6 into a BX.....some good info
In the third picture, I think there is something odd about the top engine mount bracket. Has he cut it or is it off something else?

Definitely something odd Mike.. Looks cut to me but whatever, it has no top torque reaction linkage now... That's not going to be good...

The engine will have a great tendency to rock and that's not going to make for a nice drive...

I fixed my leaky rear ram today...

This was how leaky it was

Image

Full story is in my blog here:

http://www.activav6.co.uk/2015/03/fixin ... y-ream-ram" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Whilst I was there I also pressure tested the rear spheres as access was easy...

I will soon need a new Activa Balancing Sphere and Rear Centre Hydractive as both are a bit low but that's not bad as both are about seven years old..

They came off nice and easily...

Nice work Jim, as usual :D

I was wondering... Will you change the front suspension struts and strut mounts also? As V6 has thicker struts...

Thanks Xantos :-D

No, I shall stick with the existing TCT struts as is normal UK conversion policy.

It would be nice to use V6 struts but they're rare here and the LH one is unique to the Activa, a standard one cannot be modified as far as we know as it would need a new bracket welded onto the strut for the ram top mount...

Jim, I had a set of V6 struts that I was going to get an Activa bracket welded to but I couldn't find a knackered Activa strut to cut the bracket off and I wasn't going to risk butchering my own strut incase something happened. If Sticky has a spare strut from the Activa he's breaking then it could be a good point to try.

My Activa is running both 2.0 struts and I can't tell the difference. :)

LH Strut is already off, RH tomorrow

PS....how the hell do you both get too and remove the exhaust , eg the manifold to down pipe spring bolts ?

In that case you may have to get inventive....

Lift the engine off its mounts, drag it forward and get the angel grinder in there...

Had to do just that with a V6 XM a few years back....

Else that, oxy-acetylene if you have it...
