Re: French cars in films
Those are some incredibly atmospheric pictures, I love 'em
Is the film any good or is the 2CV the best bit?

Re: French cars in films
Quick answer: Parts filmed in Italy and 2CV were the best bits
Otherwise the movie is not the kind I would recommend
She travels to three countries as the name of the movie Eat Pray Love.
Eat: In Italy (Best part, lovely scenes, food, wine, Mediterranean life style and etc.)
Pray: In India
Love: In Bali

Thanks VertVega
I shall give it a miss then knowing I've seen one of the best bits via your pictures
There's a lot to be said for the Mediterranean lifestyle. nearly 30 years on I still miss living in Cyprus

Re: French cars in films
I watched the Four Lions last night, a very odd film which I wouldn't really recommend, it wasn't my choice!
Anyway, the star car was a series2 Xantia, it wasn't mint!

About to be driven into the wall:

Pictures pinched from various places
Interesting reg as its not from that car, should be a S1 on a P plate and no details are held on the DVLA site for that plate. Maybe it is just inkeeping with the terrorist aspect of the film
Think it was a 1.8 petrol, though hard to tell, certainly was made to be very noisey and beaten up. Spheres were shot which can't have been a great benefit when carrying explosives.

Re: French cars in films
It also had a Ford key if memory serves, which he swallowed.
I'd have liked him to try and swallow a flea key!
The film had some amusing moments, like when he accidentally blows up Osama Bin Laden, and the exploding Crows, but not a film worth watching more than once.

Re: French cars in films
I did notice the Ford key, though it would be quite some attempt to swallow a real Xantia key, especially a series 2 one
Yes, it got a few laughs at some points

The one in the film even had a cylindrical shaft, not cruciformCitroJim wrote:Ahh, I can explain that oneCitroenmad wrote:I did notice the Ford key,When I went to have my spare Rattiva key cut at the local Lokkie he showed me his Citroën cruciform transponder blanks and they looked exactly like Ford keys from a distance. The black bit was more or less absolutely identical except that the filled hole that's blue on a Ford key was filled with bright red stuff...

Gawd, remind me never to watch that film then! It must have been boring and tedious in the extreme if you noted little details like thatXac wrote: The one in the film even had a cylindrical shaft, not cruciform

The last 40 minutes of it flew by, but the first half was pretty rubbish. Questionable taste

Re: French cars in films
I just saw a silly (but good fun) sci-fi called "in Time". There's a DS in the background of a "car-choosing" scene, in which our protaganist chooses some kind of E-Type (replica, obviously):

There's a Merc 300SL Gullwing in the background, and a Jensen Interceptor in a longer shot. The E is dubbed as usual in american films with a V8 engine noise. I guess the DS is genuine though..?
The generic cars in the film are nicely styled: a definite 60's/70's hot-rod aesthetic prevails, with solid milled alloy wheels, old-fashioned american "notchback" design, full length grilles with hidden headlamps, high ride height and bouncy springs, etc.

And another:
Not endorsing this, is't a follow-on from a follow-on from the above one.
Would have been better with Zucchero Fornaciari or Titziano Ferro.

Re: French cars in films
Not a film but a music video from a few years back. It featured a CX which was in a chase and ended by slamming down into a underground railway. Trouble is I cant remember what the song was now!
