Thanks to the early warning, I was able to check the housing before fitting; yes, it was the wrong one. Seller was understanding about it and let me keep it. Got the new one, fitted it after the usual struggles and... it didn't make the slightest difference. Trying to get my OBD2 Scanner to download to a laptop to analyse better.
However, when doing the work on the thermostat, I also changed out the exhaust dephaser solenoid, swapped over the camshaft position sensors, lossened off and mechanically checked butterfly valve, reset the static timing and removed the chain tensioner. Only thing out was the chain tensioner, new one fitted. That has made a difference, engine is that bit quieter and smoother. But still getting the P11A8 & P0014 codes, eratic idling on occassion and cutting out at roundabouts and junctions. Engine Mangement warning comes on, then goes off on longer drives at steady revs. All as before. Only thing I've seen on youtube is that the dephaser itself may be stuck. Not seen any details how to check/clean this other than a very short clip of the camshaft removed the car and the dephaser action check by compressed air via the oil feed hole. Anyone any experience of this job? I have run out of ideas.
Still not sure if the coolant temp and the possible dephaser problem are related.
207cc, 1.6l petrol, rough idle & stall.
