The issue has recurred.
Since I was unable to source the original component, I had to install an aftermarket part.
Could this alternative part be the underlying cause of the problem?
Additionally, I noticed that the issue does not occur when the A/C is turned on.

With the air con on the engine fan will be running and probably keeping the coolant a bit colder. You could do with looking at live data to see what the temperatures are on the sensors.

Yes, a problem with the fan control circuit can cause these symptoms. However a problem with the fan circuit will stop the air conditioning from working. Could it be a faulty "new" sensor? Possibly. Sorry, but you are going to have to make that call. I would tend to lean toward the radiator fan relay.
