Re: Xsara Picasso 04 - Fob/Immo/Issues
On testing fuse 4 in the BSI there is 12v on either side of that fuse. I then put a freshly charged battery into the car and restested. This time no 12v either side. Would I need to wait for the BSI to reset? What further tests do I need to do please?

Ok so fues 4 in the BSI is fed from maxi fuse 5 in the BSM but it goes VIA the shunt, can you check if there is 12v a the shunt (see below will look something like his in the middle of the BSI), check if you have 12v here.
You said you checked all of the fuses (including the Maxi fuses)?
If there is no 12v at the shunt you then need to check for 12v at maxi fuse 5?

When you disconnected the old battery did you follow the disconnection procedure? And then when you connected the new one?

No this fuse is fed directly from the battery, so should be live all the time, the BSI can have no effect on this power supply.magictorch wrote: 20 Mar 2025, 17:33 This time no 12v either side. Would I need to wait for the BSI to reset?

Ah, missed that. I notice that there are two F4 fuses in the circuit diagram. Is it possible that the wrong one is being tested?

That fuse diagram is not the BSM board that I have. The part number is a Siemens BSM - B3 T11847003 G
There is no shunt fuse and no maxi fuse at 5.
With regards to adding a new battery. I did follow procedure as listed on site. For example door window open. Bonnet open and side light open.
Apologies for delay. Thanks for your help so far.

The shunt fuse is located in the BSI which is inside the car.magictorch wrote: 30 Mar 2025, 16:41 That fuse diagram is not the BSM board that I have. The part number is a Siemens BSM - B3 T11847003 G

The maxi fuses are located underneath the BSM which is the under bonnet fuse box. you need to lift the BSM up & out of its box to see the maxi fuses, see below.

The car wont come out of economy mode until you start the engine.

Is there a special way to get that BSM fuse board out? I have removed cables and earth. Attachment of BSM.

Where inside the car is the BSI please, driver or passenger side?

Right progress. BSM out and fuse 5 70amp has continuity. What next? The shunt fuse to locate and test 12v there first and then back to the maxi for 12v?

Hi, have you overcome your issue?
I also had a Xsara Picasso that refused to start on me once, though it would crank. I was intermittently getting 'Engine immobiliser fault'.
Had to call out the AA, and it was the key that was the culprit - the small chip inside that communicates with the ECU had fallen out of position inside the key body.
Just to go there because no-one yet has I think. Maybe you ruled this out anyway.

Drivers side, unclip the little cubby box & you should see it.magictorch wrote: 30 Mar 2025, 17:13 Where inside the car is the BSI please, driver or passenger side?
Leave the shunt in place & check for 12v on metal strip
