Been away for a bit and just picking this up again.

As much as this doesn't seem to affect the performance of the car once started (including the functionality of the start/ stop system) it is a big pain...especially when you are running late!!

I have now through general maintenance and trying to sort this issue changed: spark plugs, coils, cam position sensors, immobiliser ariel, telematics module battery, new keys programmed (where only one actually works – the other need to be at the immobiliser ariel), new main battery, new -ve battery terminal module, new battery fuse box, all fuses and relays checked and working, SH-VO removed and re-seated, BIS reset (not convinced this works anyway)….and a partridge in a pear tree!

I managed to lead Digibox onto an old laptop and got the following codes (these do not show up on other OBD modules). I don’t have access to the Stellantis mothership so can’t go much further than getting the codes.

They are:
DTC B1865: Lack of coherence between the status of the engine starts switch and the status of the BSI Internal Combustion Engine Starting Authorised Output

DTC code U1F00: Trailer relay unit (This car has never had a trailer/ towbar)
Now this car has never had a towbar!!

I know this doesn’t fix anything but perhaps going in the right directions and if anyone else has some ideas or a Diagbox that can reset the coherence.

Hi did you get any further with this?
My alarm has started going off randomly now.
I've asked the dealer if there is any software updates for my car but they state no.
I'm convinced this is a BSI/immobiliser or ignition switch issue and your codes above kind of point in that direction.
The non starts have been weekly but on Saturday I had 2 in a row. One I got out the car then back in then it started. The other I sat in the car, switched the ignition off and waited 30 seconds then pressed the button on the key and tried to start and it fired up.
Speaking with a few dealer technicians this is a known issue but cannot be fixed as its random and the cars they have had in with this issue have all started fine.

What car have you got ? The following are for a Citroen/Peugeot but might apply to other makes.

The alarm going off could be its siren back up battery is due for replacement.

When it does not start is the key being recognised - to check leave it in the ignition and open the driver's door, if recognised you should get a warning the key is left in.

When not starting does the engine turn over on the starter, if not can you hear a click on it - if so it might be the starter is high mileage and due for replacement. You could try a 12 volt supply direct to it from the battery to to see it it turns over to eliminate ignition problems stopping it turning over.

Hi

Your experience is very similar. I found online that removing the 'SV-HO' module (looks like a fuse in the BSI) would help reset things. It didn't (!) and also I put it back in wrong initially which resulted in the alarm sounding all the time when trying to lock the car. Basically there are three slots for this two pin module to go into. The left and centre slots are showroom state where this sets off the alarm when tryinfg to lock. If put into the right and middle slots then this is normal function. Perhaps if some mechanic has pulled this module out then they have put it back in wrong (easy to do as it is so tight in the glovebox).
