Got the gear pair from a dutch company - ordered the Friday and UPS were at my door the following Monday, beat that. All went together ok and eventually gave it a test run this morning. All gears ok and runs smooth and quiet. Think I,ve dodged a bullet because if the previous owner just ran it and ran it dry then it could have cooked all the other gears but its feels ok. Got a used gearbox from a breakers just in case it all goes pear-shape in the near future but if its never used it wont worry me. Thanks for the info from all, it really helped.
