Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
That is indeed an interesting thought Paul, I think it is highly likely that this thread may well turn into an ever increasing number of fruitless spirals into ignominy, but in doing so it will protect the value in all the other threads!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Always astonishing to think there were only about 11 years between the first flight of that* and the first flight of the VulcanRp0thejester wrote: 31 Oct 2023, 20:30 .....but I completely forgot about the Lancaster and HE 111 copies

The other threads have value?

Yes, not even a breeze for us from the North.bobins wrote: 31 Oct 2023, 19:01
For our northern correspondents, it was probably akin to a light summer breeze![]()
Edit. Thanks to Mick's link of the BBC article I can confirm...... "A maximum gust of 115mph was recorded at Shoreham in West Sussex"
Not sure I should admit to sitting in a 115mph wind more regularly than I should

I have noted the presence of this topic and have subscribed to it... I'm sure I'll be able to drag it off-topic at some point!

I think, technically, it'd only become off topic if you start talking about the finer points of assorted French carsCitroJim wrote: 01 Nov 2023, 04:43 I have noted the presence of this topic and have subscribed to it... I'm sure I'll be able to drag it off-topic at some point!

Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
Jim mentioned subscribing to a thread.
I have never done that on the FCF. I have always used the old one-two.
One- Your posts lists every thread you have ever made a post on. The thread with the most recent posting activity, by any member not just your own, is top of the list.
My "your posts" currently totals 966 different threads I have made a post on.
Two-Active topics shows all recently active threads whether you have made a post on them or not.

If you haven't posted in a thread the subscribing to it gives an indicator when anyone puts a new post in.
I just use the "notifications" and "Unread Posts" to find the relevant posts.

Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
That is QI Neil, I am exactly the opposite and subscribe to a vast number of threads and activate notifications on them. Then the only time I go searching is to find old posts. By subscribing to the Introductions thread for example I have the opportunity to welcome new members when they join. I do tend to get a fair few notifications admittedly but I'd rather have some I don't need than miss those I do

Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
I never need to look through all 20 pages and 966 threads on my "Your Posts" list.
This is what it looks like of now. First page tells me all the recent activity on any threads I have made a post on. In general that equates to threads I would otherwise be interested enough to subscribe to. Active topics always picks up new threads.

I don't even do that. I just click on "New Posts".

Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
I used to use 'New Posts' but I found it annoying when trying to find a post that I'd already looked at later on. I now use 'Active Topics' which gives me everything I want. New posts marked as such and previous new posts that I've looked at just left there in the list.

Well at least there's a place to make those messages be read rather than diluting a blog/thread. I can see it now, Ryan!!! Off to the Catch All room NOW!!!!
