A quick Google / trawl of CPCs site:

https://cpc.farnell.com/c/tools-mainten ... l-coatings

Blurb on this one (the cheapest)
CPL is a general purpose coating designed to protect printed circuit boards from environmental attack. The high gloss properties of CPL also make it an ideal choice for over-coating applications where cosmetics are a contributing factor. It is also suited for protecting ferrous metals from corrosion
General purpose coating for PCBs giving high quality glossy finish
Ideal for protecting ferrous metals from corrosion
Good resistance to humidity
Resolderability through the lacquer
No UV trace
Also used as a top coat for protecting conductive lacquers
Sounds ideal stuff! https://cpc.farnell.com/electrolube/cpl ... /SACPL200H

Interesting I think the boards on my replacement motors have had this done. There is a blue kind of lacquer on them. The old set don't have it on them and that is the one that has failed. I see Farnell have changed their name to CPC.

Interesting, sounds like a similar solution has been implemented to what myglaren had thought of - taking that as being on the right track! :)

My dad sometimes tells me about the "good old days" when Croston Precise Components was just a little shed warehouse and just did electrical components (and were cheaper he reckons) before they became an "everything shop". I think Farnell bought out CPC but seems happy to keep the name going. There is a physical shop:
Picture off their website. Yes Trade Counter Entrance is as stupidly oversized as it looks here!

I've been often as is about 20 minutes away from me.
I think in comparison Farnell does not have any physical shops??

I don't think they have I think they are fully internet based. The problem is the plug would need to be desoldered to coat the underside which is where I believe the corrosion occurs.
