Well done - it sounds like it got stuck into partial service mode.

Funny you should say that - the service light has been on for weeks despite having the last service done in Nov 2021 and not clocked up a huge amount of miles since. It's where the electronic parking brake is put into 'service mode' when operations concerning the discs or calipers are replaced for example. It ensures the EPB is fully released to aid repairs and is important that the battery is disconnected after doing so, to ensure it does not come on accidentally if the ignition is switched on - which could be dangerous and cause issues.
When the maintenance work is completed, the handbrake is normally applied and held on for a little while until it fully calibrated and working properly again.
