I suggest, if you are storing these units, make sure they have some fluid inside to keep the surrfaces good and seals wet and make sure that all orifices are sealed/plugged. If you find your pump is on the way out take a trip to your local scrap yard. My pump motor has failed, and my local scrap yard sold me a suitable pump/motor for £30. OK, I had to remove it from the donor car (that is not a service they offer), but at that price...

Yeah, I bought the pump a few days ago and it is already disassembled on the "restoration table" (any free space that can be used 
).
It was ~50€ with a shipping fee and that's the cheapest I could find in our country.
The pump's insides are in excellent condition! Maybe someone already reconditioned it.
We don't have those big scrap yards where you can go and take parts yourself (for a lower or any price:)). Instead, we have many small ones where the scrap yard owner takes everything apart and sells it.
