Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
The batteries in the sensors area designed to last about 10 years, so likely needs changing. If you have access to a cloning service that may be the way to go.

Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
So if I fit in the new used sensor, the car won't see it until I read it via diagnostics and write it into the ECU right?

Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
Not really, because you are having the original sensor code cloned from the old to the new sensor. So once the old sensor is replaced with the new one, the TPMS ECU won't know the difference.
If you have changed your mind and are fitting a new un-cloned sensor, then it will need activating with an exciter tool and then programmed to the TPMS ECU.

Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
I don't believe cloning OEM sensors is possible but I'm happy to be corrected..
I'm also fairly sure you need a particular model Autel diag system to be able to program TPMS codes in to the ECU's. eg. Autel MaxiPRO MP808TS
Cloning a Autel sensor to the original code is a piece of cake with the correct tool. If you're struggling to get it sorted DM me your senor code and I'll code an Autel sensor for a number of beer tokens

Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
I think he just has their Diagnostic tool, I forgot the exact model but it's MaxiSYS something I think? I gotta go to the tyre fitters and ask if they can do it there maybe, since I need them to change the sensor anyway. If all else fails, I'll look into your Beer Token offer
(I also just now realized Autel has universal sensors that you can code to any car, I have a used Citroen OEM sensor).

Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
There are places that can do this, but they use a special tool to do it.

Re: TPMS sensor replacement procedure
Costco tyre bays have a tool to code TPMS sensors to the cars. When I had my tyres on the C5 X7 changed a few years ago they didn't worry about which wheel came off where because they simply recoded them all back in.
